A melanoform nevus is one of the types of pigment spots (moles), a skin neoplasm that is formed from melanocytes (skin cells that produce melanin) and under certain conditions can become malignant.
Melanoform nevus can be located on any part of the body
Melanoform nevus: what is it?
Melanoform nevi are benign neoplasms that form in the process of pathological abnormalities during intrauterine development of the fetus. Despite the fact that the spots in question are most often congenital, they become noticeable on the human body only in the process of growing up.
There are practically no such moles on the body of newborns and infants. Only 4-10% of all babies have age spots. With age, such neoplasms can not only appear, but also disappear on their own. For example, if a person under 25 years old has approximately 40 moles, then by the age of 30 there may be only 15-20 of them left.
