A fatty tissue (lipoma) very often forms in the facial area and is a cosmetic defect. You need to know how to squeeze out a wen on your face and whether it can be done at home so as not to harm your own health.

Wen are neoplasms of subcutaneous fat. They do not cause harm or anxiety, but cause aesthetic discomfort, especially for women. A fatty subcutaneous tumor has unclear boundaries and “mobility”. It can form on any part of the body and eventually reach large sizes. Small white pimples with a capsule usually form in the face area, which are almost impossible to squeeze out.

What can you see on the face?

The most noticeable growths on the face are called lumps, but they can also appear on the body. This disease is associated with stagnation of sebum near the hair follicles. Therefore, wen is not found on the palms and soles for a simple reason - hair does not grow there. Epidermal or follicular cysts, that is, sebaceous gland cysts, appear at the base of the hair follicle. Either the gland becomes blocked or the sebaceous secretion thickens. But it's not that simple.

Only a specialist can judge the causes and classification of the neoplasm. But we do not always follow this statement. Therefore, independently guided by the information we found, we decide that we already know how to remove a wen on the face at home if this cosmetic defect causes dissatisfaction. Boils, acne, atheromas, papules, pustules, purulent nodes, milia, and comedones can also appear on the face.

Is it possible to squeeze out

Before you think about whether it is possible to squeeze out a wen, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the opinion of experts on this issue. Most doctors categorically do not recommend self-medication, due to a number of the following aspects:

  • The growth capsule does not have a free exit. That is, to remove the pathogenic contents of the lipoma, it is necessary to make a puncture; trauma to the epidermal layer is inevitable.
  • The lack of sufficient experience, as well as practical skills, can lead to the appearance of a very unsightly-looking scar.
  • There is a high probability of infection if the wen is squeezed out under unsterile conditions.

One of the main reasons why it is categorically not recommended to squeeze out a lipoma on your own is the high risk of re-filling the fat capsule, which will remain in the subcutaneous layer.

Milia

You can come across the popular expression “millet”. But this term refers to numerous raised white grains, covered with a thin layer of skin and scientifically called “milia”. Histological studies of these formations have established that their contents consist of keratin - a fibrillar protein that is part of the derivatives of the epidermis of the skin, and in the case of humans - their hair, and not from fatty secretions. From a medical point of view, millet is blisters formed in the surface layer of the skin and containing keratin. They are not easy to remove, especially in their favorite place - around the eyelids. Xanthelasmas, flat yellow formations, may appear in the corners of the eyelids. They often appear in groups, merging with each other. Such wen is more typical for older people.

What is a lipoma

Despite the fact that both formations are very similar, they have their own characteristics and different methods of treatment and removal. It is worth considering both formations in more detail so that a person can understand what exactly he is faced with.

Lipoma is a benign formation that consists entirely of adipose tissue. The appearance of the wen resembles a ball, which is located under the upper layer of the dermis. By touching the formation, you can understand that it does not cause pain and has mobility. Lipoma can be single or multiple. In some cases, multiple wen can connect with each other and create a large, outlined ball that can be “scattered” over the entire surface of the body.

Middle-aged and older people are most susceptible to the formation of lipomas, and women experience it more often. Sometimes patients become ill in childhood or adolescence.

According to its structure, wen is divided into several types:

  • Lipofibroma is a soft fibroma, mainly composed of fatty tissue, that appears on any part of the body where fat is present.
  • Fibrolipoma is denser, includes both adipose and fibrous tissue, and appears on the legs, buttocks, and thighs.
  • Angiolipoma is also dense, consists of a muscle and fat layer, modification of blood vessels occurs in it, appears on muscle tissue and inside organs.
  • Myolipoma is practically no different from the previous type; it is located deep in muscle tissue or inside organs, for example, in the kidneys.
  • Myelolipoma is dense, includes hematopoietic and adipose tissue, localized inside organs or deep in the peritoneum.

A lipoma can appear anywhere, not only on the skin, but also under it. The formation can reach large sizes, but does not cause any pain. During active growth, it sometimes puts strong pressure on internal organs and nerve endings, which leads to pain. Wen that have a leg are especially dangerous, because they can cause tissue necrosis and degeneration into a malignant formation. Each lipoma, despite its harmlessness, can pose a threat to the normal functioning of organs, and therefore the danger from it in some cases is great.

Comedones

In case of blockage of the sebaceous glands and the appearance of seals above the surface of the skin, closed and open comedones are formed. Closed whiteheads are called whiteheads. They are clearly visible when the skin is stretched. Blackheads are open comedones. They practically do not become inflamed.

Inflamed closed comedones are called pimples in everyday use, while non-inflamed ones are called so-called wen. How to squeeze out a wen on the face? Many will say that it is very simple. You just need to take and squeeze the skin around the unpleasant closed comedon. After which the skin breaks with difficulty, and a clot of sebaceous secretion comes to the surface. The contents of open comedones come out with slight squeezing of the skin around them. Naturally, with this action, compliance with all rules of sterility is a prerequisite. Closed and open comedones form on the cheeks, on the chest, on the shoulders - where acne settles, but not on the eyelids.

What is atheroma?

Atheroma is a benign formation, localized under the skin. The shape of the wen is round, mobility and density are observed. At the same time, atheromas in most cases do not exceed 5 centimeters in size. The color of the dermis in the affected area does not change, but if you look closely, you can see that a dark dot appears, which acts as a valve for the ducts of the sebaceous glands. This formation appears in the duct of the sebaceous gland. In medicine, the manifestation is sometimes called a fatty cyst.

Atheroma appears on those parts of the body where sebaceous glands are present, for example, on the hair or face. Atheroma and lipoma are too similar to each other. The main difference is that the first formation always appears only where the glands are blocked or fat thickening begins. If sebum is not able to reach the surface of the body, then it begins to accumulate in a special capsule, which is atheroma. May form due to trauma to the skin.

Like lipomas, atheromas can be multiple and appear in patients who suffer from Gardner syndrome (a rare genetic disease). These manifestations tend to occur in men rather than in women. Those who have previously suffered from acne (inflammation of the sebaceous glands) are especially susceptible.

Reasons for the appearance of wen on the face

Before you get rid of white wen on your face or eyelids, you need to understand the reasons for their appearance. Most of all, milia located in the periorbital zone (the area around the eyes) give the facial skin an unsightly, sloppy appearance. This is the most sensitive part of the face and the first to age. When the human body malfunctions, keratin enters the skin glands and naturally mixes with fatty secretions, clogs the excretory duct of the gland. A cyst called a milia forms. The resulting external grain does not hurt, does not bother, and does not remind you of itself.

Unstable hormonal levels in young people provoke the appearance of millet. Even newborn children in maternity hospitals are born with these grains, sometimes very numerous. Fortunately, in babies this condition, although it occurs frequently, quickly regresses, and the babies go home rosy-cheeked and with clean faces. Pediatric dermatologists observe the appearance of milia in newborns, even on the genitals and skin of the nipple. But this happens very rarely.

Parents, of course, get upset and pester doctors with questions about the causes and consequences of this condition of their child’s skin. But, fortunately, when they receive an answer to their question about how to get rid of white wen on a child’s face, they calm down. Since this cystic formation in infants disappears spontaneously.

Millet occurs in girls with irregularities in the regular menstrual cycle, in women who gain unreasonably weight, and in women with hormonal disorders. Milia may also appear on areas of the skin where steroid cream was applied. Genetic characteristics of metabolic processes in the skin of adults can also cause the appearance of numerous grains on the eyelids and even the ears and jaw. The size of the cysts can increase and reach up to several centimeters in diameter.

Factors in the formation of milia can be various mechanical damage to the skin, indiscriminate skin care, and some diseases of the internal organs. Do not excessively degrease dry skin using tinctures, soaps and creams that dry it out. Do not apply creams that do not suit this skin type to oily skin. Many people are contraindicated from using creams to tighten pores.

What is the difference between a wen and acne?

Wen are characterized by a dense, uniform structure, which under the skin has the shape of a ball, does not hurt and has high mobility. Acne is characterized by pain, irregular shape and the presence of an inflammatory process.

Mechanical removal

Let's look at how to squeeze out a wen on the face at home, and decide whether it is necessary and whether it is dangerous to do this.

The most common, but also risky, procedure at home seems to be its mechanical removal. You should always remember that you are deciding to carry out a real operation yourself at home. How to squeeze out a wen on the face? Before starting the procedure, you need to take care of the sterility of your hands, face, materials, utensils and instruments that you will have to use. Lighting and the place on the face where the puncture is planned play a big role. You need to prepare gauze for tampons, sterile cotton wool and a needle, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide. After this, you need to stop and think again about how to remove wen on the face at home by puncture. You may not need to do this!

If it is not possible or you are embarrassed to go to the doctor, but you don’t want to complain and ask your friends: “I squeezed out a wen on my face, what should I do with the scar?”, you can try other ways to remove the formation without piercing it with a needle.

Small subcutaneous white pimples - what are they?

A small white subcutaneous pimple is one of the manifestations of acne, popularly called “millet pimple” , since in appearance it is similar to a millet grain. A dense white nodule is called millet; such formations can occur either in the singular or in a fairly large cluster.

Typically, white pimples appear on the face, namely on the forehead, chin, cheeks, lower and upper eyelids, lips and nose, but can also occur on the chest, back, legs and neck.

Use of ointments

At home, you can squeeze out a wen on your face of only a very small size, with a diameter of no more than 2 cm. After using folk or pharmacy drugs and ointments. They will help the skin over the wen to open easily, and the contents of the wen capsule to come out or simply dissolve. Such pharmaceutical products include Vishnevsky ointment with a rather unpleasant but tolerable smell of fish oil and natural tar. The ointment affects the process of resorption of the wen, ensuring blood flow to its location. It is applied to gauze or a bandage, applied to the tubercles of the wen and fixed. Change the bandage every day for a week. Do the same with ichthyol ointment. But the bandage must be changed at least twice a day. They lubricate the wen with iodine and hydrogen peroxide, but this rarely helps. It all depends on the cause of the wen and the age of the person. Everything is very individual.

How to get rid

Even if the wen is not dangerous, it is worth removing it so that there is no aesthetic defect. And if you accidentally catch it, the infection will quickly penetrate inside the body.

Pharmacy products

Surgical intervention

In some cases, conventional remedies cannot help get rid of wen.

Then some surgical procedure is applied:

  1. Removing lipoma using radio waves. The radiation heats the fatty tissue, which leads to its gradual separation from the healthy area.
  2. Laser destruction is now used quite often. This is a quick and painless process that leaves no traces or complications.
  3. Classic surgical intervention. The skin is cut and the membrane of the wen is squeezed out. Then the wound is cleaned and scraped. Stitches are then applied. The disadvantage of this operation is the remaining scars on the body.

Cosmetology products

The following procedures can be done in a cosmetologist’s office:

  1. Electrocoagulation – burning out a lipoma with an electric current. A quick procedure that lasts no more than 3 minutes. Skin healing occurs in 10 days.
  2. Aspiration is the removal of fat using a needle. Suitable for wen that is not fully ripe.
  3. Mechanical removal - the lipoma is pierced with a needle and squeezed out like a regular pimple.
  4. Salon chemical peeling – renews the skin, improves blood flow, which promotes regeneration and accelerated removal of wen.

Doctors' advice

If a neoplasm in the form of a wen on the face is tiny, does not grow, does not bother the owner and does not provoke any complications, then there is no reason to worry. But if a person is thinking about how to squeeze out a wen on his face, then a visit to a specialist dermatologist or cosmetologist cannot be avoided. It is recommended to remove large wen. Although they may be safe, they change the area of the body in which they settle and contribute to the occurrence of disturbances in the functioning of the skin glands. Before recommending removal of a wen, specialists will definitely advise the patient to undergo an examination to establish the reasons for its appearance. It is possible that after the removal procedure the wen will grow again due to unresolved causes.

Treatment of lipomas with cosmetics

Although wen is considered a non-dangerous neoplasm, treatment should be carried out under medical supervision.

If you contact a cosmetologist, he will tell you what to do. Initially, the cause of the formation is determined, then a cosmetic product is selected and appropriate treatment is prescribed. If health problems are excluded, the formation of lipomas is associated with improper facial skin care.

The cosmetologist will remove the tumors and recommend the correct selection of cosmetics according to your skin type.

To get rid of milia, you need a product that opens the pores and makes the skin on the wen thinner. In this case, peelings and scrubs containing fruit acid are suitable. A special ointment is selected.

Removal methods

If surgery is performed, then only under local anesthesia. The doctor will carefully remove not only the contents of the wen, but also remove the capsule from which it grew. If you leave the slightest particle, a relapse is possible. After damaging the skin with a scalpel, a scar may remain, so you can remove the wen on the face in another way.

Small fatty deposits can be removed without making a skin incision using the radio wave method. The laser method can be compared with this method. There are no traces of manipulation left on the skin, so both methods are suitable for removing wen on the face.

The puncture-aspiration method does not guarantee that the wen will not appear again, since it is carried out by piercing the surface of the formation with a needle. This method does not eliminate the capsule, but only makes it possible to extract the contents of the tubercle.

Procedure with a specialist

When a wen appears on the skin, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist, who, through various tests, will determine the nature of the neoplasm, its structure, and the depth of germination. Squeezing out or opening the wen is allowed only after diagnosis. There are several options for procedures carried out specifically by squeezing out the wen:

  • Endoscopy. For the purpose of quick healing, this method is used. The procedure is quite simple: with the help of a special device - an endoscope, the fat cells are destroyed and removed through a small puncture, while the tumor capsule remains inside. The puncture site is treated, after which a sterile bandage is applied.
  • Surgical. This method involves removing the fatty tissue, as well as the capsule, through a small incision made with a scalpel. However, this method is somewhat difficult to classify as one that is based specifically on the principles of extrusion.

Only the surgical method is truly effective. During endoscopic examination, the wen capsule remains inside, that is, there is a risk of filling it again.
