Treatment of chiria with folk remedies: basic methods

Causes of boils

Staphylococcal bacteria are constantly present on human skin, which is the main cause of the development of the disease. If a person is healthy, then microorganisms on the surface of his skin do not provoke inflammation. When immunity decreases, the microflora of the skin is also disrupted. Because of this, it becomes more prone to contamination and, accordingly, to infection.

A decrease in the body's defenses occurs for a number of reasons:

  • pathologies of the urinary tract, respiratory and endocrine systems;
  • exacerbation of chronic diseases (sinusitis, sinusitis, etc.);
  • infection of the intestines with parasites, such as worms;
  • overactive sebaceous and sweat glands.

The reasons for the appearance of boils may also be associated with negative external factors:

  • failure to comply with personal hygiene rules;
  • hypothermia or overheating of the body;
  • constant stress;
  • tight clothes.

Clients with this type of illness most often turn to doctors in early spring or late autumn. At this time, a person is affected by several factors that provoke the occurrence of the disease: vitamin deficiency and changeable weather. Vitamin deficiency leads to weakened immunity, and unstable weather leads to overheating or hypothermia of the body.

How to treat boils during pregnancy and in children?

Most antibiotics and ointments are contraindicated in pregnant women and children. When pregnant women have a boil, the temperature rises to 39 degrees, which is dangerous for the fetus. If treatment is not started in time, the pathology can spread throughout the body and become chronic. It is best to use compresses with ointments and lotions made from chamomile, honey or sage. If home therapy does not bring results, you should definitely go to the hospital!

Types of disease

Depending on the location of the ulcers and the degree of the inflammatory process, several types of boils are distinguished. Detailed characteristics of each type of disease are presented in the table.

Name of the diseaseClinical picture
FuruncleA single inflammation of the hair follicle that goes away on its own.
CarbuncleFocal inflammation of several hair follicles at once. The release of pus usually occurs in several places at once.
Cystic acne on the faceCysts filled with necrotic fluid are located in the deep layers of the dermis. Red bumps form on the surface of the skin, upon palpation of which a person feels pain and discomfort.
Pilonidal sinusitisThe gluteal folds are affected by a boil that has a long necrotic root.
Hidradenitis suppurativaThe inflammatory process covers the inguinal folds and armpits. Multiple ulcers form in the deep layers of the skin near the sweat glands.

This type of disease, such as carbuncle or pilonidal sinusitis, cannot be treated at home. You should immediately contact the clinic.

Preventive actions

In order not to wonder how to cure the consequences of boils, it is necessary to prevent the disease:

It is necessary to prevent furunculosis

  • maintain hygiene so that your feet are always clean;
  • thoroughly rinse your toes and the spaces between your toes;
  • for abrasions on the knee, fingers, and feet, treat them with antiseptic solutions;
  • if a small pimple pops up, you should immediately cauterize it with an antiseptic to prevent the development of further inflammatory process;
  • After washing, lubricate the skin of the foot(s) with emollient creams to prevent the appearance of cracks (and the penetration of bacteria into the skin);
  • refuse to use creams and ointments of dubious origin, use proven products;
  • watch your feet - do not wear shoes that are tight or unsuitable for weather conditions;
  • refuse to constantly wear high-heeled women's shoes - sweating occurs between constantly clenched toes, which is a favorable environment for bacteria.

Nonspecific prevention of furunculosis includes seasonal intake of complexes of vitamins and minerals, normalization of the daily diet, frequent changes of clothes and bed linen, refusal to use common hygiene items - washcloths, towels, razors.

In addition to the above means of prevention, medical personnel recommend paying special attention to weight - not to lead your body to obesity, which causes many different diseases.

Hair removal from the surface of the legs should be carried out under sterile conditions, with minimal trauma to the skin surface. In case of accidental cuts or damage, you should immediately treat the wounds with antiseptic agents, or if not, cauterize them with an alcohol solution.

All shoes with boils on the lower part of the feet should be treated with antiseptics to prevent secondary infection. Sharing personal shoes with friends and acquaintances is prohibited - the consequence can be not only furunculosis, but also any fungal diseases of the skin and nails.

Most skin diseases are the result of “shared” clothing and footwear.

Symptoms of the disease

To recognize a disease in time, you need to have an idea of its symptoms. As the disease develops, it goes through several successive stages:

  1. The infiltration stage is the accumulation of necrotic fluid in the boil;
  2. Formation and rejection of a purulent core;
  3. Scarring of the damaged area of the epidermis.

The symptoms of a boil will depend on the stage of its development. At the time of infiltration, a dense, painful tubercle appears in the deep layers of the skin. The surface of the epidermis above this formation acquires a reddish tint. Over the course of 48 hours, the lump enlarges and becomes increasingly painful.

At the second stage, the area of redness expands and the infiltrate rises above the surface of the skin. In the middle of the boil you can see a purulent core of grayish-green color. After the thin skin splits in the middle of the infiltrate, purulent masses are rejected.

At the last stage of the disease, the deep wound left after the release of the necrotic rod is gradually filled with new epithelial cells. After a few days, a scar forms at the site of the boil.

The clinical picture of the pathology may vary depending on the location of the inflammation. An abscess located on the lip or scrotum is manifested by severe swelling. In this case, rejection of the necrotic root does not occur. Purulent rashes on the head, back of the head or in the ear canal are characterized by severe pain. In this case, body temperature can rise to 40 degrees.

Symptoms and features of localization of boils on the hand

In the initial stages of the appearance of an abscess, pain, swelling, and hyperemia of the skin occur. After 3–5 days, a tip with a white stem is formed. There is pain and swelling. With multiple boils, there may be an increase in temperature and general weakness.

After opening the boil, purulent masses and necrotic fluids come out. The pain syndrome subsides, the swelling in the arm decreases: the wound is cleaned and the healing process begins.

A peculiarity of the disease is its localization - it develops in areas of the skin containing hair follicles. Abscesses do not appear on the palms or the inner surface of the hand.

A boil on the finger appears on the outer part of the limb, the phalanges. If the inflammation begins at the tip of the finger, the likely diagnosis is panaritium.

Often a boil on the palm is confused with purulent inflammation that develops after damage to the epidermis by a splinter or a small cut with secondary infection.

The presence of a pathological process on the elbow or the bend of the arm may indicate arthritis of the joint or inflammation of the ligaments. There is no hair in this area.

Swelling, bulging of the epidermis accompanies atheromas, hygromas, lipomas, and cellulose tumors. Benign tumors are not glued to the skin and do not limit movement, causing pain.

Boils rarely develop into malignant tumors. They are fused to the dermis, can bleed, and cause discomfort when moving the hands. Contact your doctor: after conducting an examination, he will suggest treatment options.

Treatment of boils using traditional medicine methods

Non-advanced forms of the disease can be treated at home. Traditional remedies: herbs, infusions and decoctions help effectively cope with boils in the initial stages.

Herbal therapy

Plantain leaves are considered the most effective in the fight against abscesses. To do this, the plant is thoroughly washed with running water and placed on the affected area in at least 4 layers. The leaves are secured with a bandage or elastic bandage and changed every 2 hours.

An ointment is made from the flowers of medicinal clover according to the recipe: 2 tbsp. l. dry plant material is ground with 2 tbsp. l. butter. The medicine is taken orally 3 times a day after meals to speed up the maturation of the abscess.

Tincture recipes

Tinctures are used to prevent further spread of boils. They can be made from herbs or alcohol.

The medicine from dried yannotka flowers is prepared according to the recipe: 1 tbsp. l. raw materials are poured with 200 ml of boiling water and left to cool for 30 minutes. The strained drug is drunk 4 times a day, 100 ml. The remedy is especially effective for recurrent abscesses.

Dandelion tincture is prepared as follows: 1 tsp. The roots of the plant are poured with a glass of boiling water and left to simmer for 3 hours. The tincture is consumed up to 6 times a day, 1 tbsp. l. The medicine cleanses the blood and accelerates metabolic processes in the body.

Decoction recipes

Blood purification in case of illness is also carried out using decoctions. To prepare the product, pour 10 burdock seeds into 300 ml of cold water and set to heat. After the water boils, simmer the mixture for another 20 minutes over low heat under the lid. The medicine is removed from the heat and, after cooling, drunk at one time. The course of this therapy is 1 month.

For external use, there is a recipe for another decoction: 1 tbsp. l. meadowsweet herbs are poured into 200 ml of boiling water and left to simmer in a steam bath for half an hour. The medicine is carefully filtered and cooled. Ulcers and boils are washed with a decoction of meadowsweet.

It is important to remember that folk remedies are not an alternative to medical treatment. Therapy using traditional medicine should be carried out with the consent of a doctor.

Drug treatment

As drug therapy, doctors prescribe ointments with a pulling effect. They contribute to the rapid maturation of the boil head. Among the most popular ointments are:

  1. Vishnevsky ointment, which consists of tar and castor oil. The drug improves blood supply to the affected area due to skin irritation, due to which the abscess quickly comes out;
  2. Ichthyol ointment is effective at any stage of boil maturation. The drug consists of sulfuric acid and has a bactericidal and disinfectant effect;
  3. Heparin ointment is a medicine with an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect. The components of the drug are quickly absorbed into the skin, dilating the blood vessels in the inflamed area.

Bandages with ointments are changed up to 3 times a day. After opening the abscess, the resulting wound is treated for several more days. This allows you to draw out the remaining purulent masses and avoid re-infection. Therapy with ointments usually lasts 3 to 5 days.

Precautionary measures

When treating boils at home, it is important to know some rules that will help avoid complications and relapse of the disease:

  1. Do not squeeze or puncture the abscess, as microbes can enter the blood and cause infection;
  2. It is unacceptable to treat ulcers in the face and neck area without the advice of a doctor;
  3. You should not take antimicrobial drugs without a prescription from a specialist;
  4. If you have boils, it is not recommended to visit baths and baths. Warming up the inflamed area is possible only at the first stage of the disease.

The cavity of the opened abscess is not left untreated. It must be washed with hydrogen peroxide. This will help clear the wound of any remaining bacterial infection.

Complications of the disease

Improper manipulation of boils can lead to side effects, which are divided into 3 groups:

  1. Local, manifested by carbuncle, phlegmon, erysipelas or deep abscess;
  2. Distant, characterized by inflammation of the lymphatic vessels and veins;
  3. General – furunculosis, sepsis, etc.

Pyelonephritis (inflammation of the kidneys), endocarditis, bacterial meningitis and arthritis develop. Complicated forms of boils are very dangerous for women during pregnancy, as they can lead to intrauterine infection of the child.

In what cases is surgery required?

If the boil on the leg has not broken out within 6-7 days, you must contact a medical facility. In the absence of treatment, a complication in the form of furunculosis - multiple neoplasms - is possible. You should not self-medicate, pierce or squeeze out an immature boil, this is dangerous due to bacteremia - blood poisoning, with the subsequent development of sepsis. Using needles untreated with an antiseptic for these purposes will lead to infection in the wound.

The surgical intervention is performed in a hospital hospital setting. Using a surgical instrument, the doctor dissects the top of the boil, removes the purulent-necrotic rod, treats the damaged area of the leg with antiseptics and drains the wound. The operation is performed by a surgeon under local anesthesia; if there are no complications, the patient is discharged home the same day.

To avoid negative consequences, you should consult a doctor if the patient’s condition worsens after home treatment. Body temperature rises, the patient complains of weakness and pain in the problem area, and further growth of the tumor is observed.

Preventing boils

To avoid the occurrence of boils and the complications they lead to, it is recommended to follow the preventive rules:

  • engage in active sports;
  • include foods rich in vitamins and minerals in the menu;
  • dress according to the weather;
