Removing dry calluses??? Or are we throwing 300 rubles down the drain???

Very often, after purchasing shoes, in the first days unpleasant formations appear on the skin, which are accompanied by painful symptoms and bring a lot of trouble. It is for such cases that a special Compeed callus patch has been developed. The patch is very convenient and allows you to quickly and efficiently fix the problem.

Calluses come in many varieties and are small areas of dead skin with or without fluid inside. Such formations appear after friction of the skin covering with a shoe, and as a result of such exposure, the process of inflammation begins.

Most often such formations appear on the back of the foot or on the toes. Therefore, to eliminate this type of formation, various types of bactericidal patches are very often used.

Types of Compeed patches

There are many varieties of patches manufactured by Johnson & Johnson.

These include:

  • Compeed for corns and calluses - has a special type of filling that affects the epidermis, produces a softening effect, due to which the healing properties of the patch penetrate deep into the layers of the epidermis and relieve the inflammatory process;
  • Compeed to eliminate dry calluses – the components of the patch soften and eliminate rough skin;
  • Compeed from blisters and wet formations - special components and a breathable structure allow you to absorb liquid and eliminate the possibility of bacteria entering the damaged area;
  • Compeed for ingrown calluses - nourishes and softens the rough skin surface, making it possible to quickly eliminate the defect.

Compeed for corns and calluses Compeed for eliminating dry calluses Compeed for blisters and wet formations Compeed for ingrown calluses
is also available . It is used to prevent the occurrence of calluses. When used, it forms a kind of protective film and softens the impact of shoes on the skin.

Each type of patch has instructions for use and is recommended to be used only for its intended purpose.

Composition and release form

Compeed is produced using a unique hydrocolloid technology, which allows the product to work like a second skin.

The patch contains a hydrocolloid polymer, consisting of tiny particles that form a thin film on the surface. When applied to the affected skin, the film quickly absorbs the liquid released from the wound, moisturizes the surface of the skin, allows air to pass through well, and does not allow scars and crusts to form during callus healing.

The product has good elasticity, thanks to which the patch does not wrinkle when applied and takes the required shape.

For ease of use, the manufacturer offers several shapes and sizes of adhesive plasters:

For wet calluses. Quickly helps to get rid of pain in areas of rubbing, protects against the penetration of pathogenic bacteria. A thin coating provides air access and absorbs excess moisture. For convenient use, the patch is available in small and medium sizes.

  • From damage between the fingers. The product helps provide protection to small bleeding wounds. The patch is securely attached to the surface, does not wrinkle, protects against friction and further damage.
  • For corns and dry calluses. The patch is resistant to external influences, helps restore tissue and skin at the site of damage and get rid of corns.
  • Pencil to prevent blisters. Use at the first sign of chafing. The active substances included in the composition form a film on the surface of the skin, which helps relieve pain, moisturize the area of rubbing, and reduce mechanical impact.
  • For ingrown calluses. Creates protection from rubbing and pressure, does not allow formations to grow to great depths, and provides air access. The product has moisturizing and antiseptic properties.

How to choose the right patch?

When choosing a patch, it is necessary to proceed from the type of callus, and you should also take into account the location of the formations, since the patches have different shapes and sizes.

Particular attention should be paid to formations that appear between the fingers, since the usual size of the patch is not suitable for use, so it is necessary to purchase Compeed, which has a special shape and purpose.

The correct size will prevent the patch from moving to the side and reduce the risk of further damage to the skin.

The principle of action on corns

The principle of operation of the patch is to perform the following tasks:

  • Relief of painful sensations;
  • Reducing the appearance of cracks and other damage at the site of corn formation;
  • Reduces the likelihood of bacteria entering the inflammation site;
  • Has a softening effect and moisturizes the epidermis;
  • The special base of the patch allows the skin to breathe.

Thanks to its convenient shape, the patch is easy to apply and does not come off when moving.

The product has a waterproof surface, so if necessary, a person can carry out water procedures without removing the antibacterial agent.

The following types of advantages in using the Compeed patch should be highlighted:

The best anti-callus adhesive plasters

A few years ago, the range of anti-callus patches was small. Most often they were ordinary cotton strips on an adhesive fabric backing. They almost did not contribute to the restoration of the skin, but only protected it from friction and dirt. These Velcro strips came off quickly, especially if the skin sweated, and they also crumpled, slipped, and exposed damaged skin.

Now in pharmacies the selection of adhesive plasters is simply huge. These are ordinary fabric products, as well as silicone, gel, hydrocolloid and many others. They quickly and painlessly eliminate skin defects, prevent the development of infection, relieve inflammation and pain, and eliminate discomfort when walking.

You can get the expected result only if the remedy is chosen and used correctly. For a specific type of skin defect, certain adhesive plasters are produced. The packaging always contains instructions. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with it and strictly follow it so as not to further damage the skin.

Most adhesive plasters have the same principle of action . They may differ in water resistance, exposure time, composition of active substances and shape. Before applying the patch to the affected area, you must do the following:

steam the affected area in a bath of hot water for 10-15 minutes;

  • wash the skin with soap;
  • dry the skin thoroughly;
  • Use chlorhexidine to disinfect the damage and let it dry;
  • remove the protective film from the prepared treatment sticker;
  • Gently apply the healing part to the sore spot. Smooth the adhesive surface;
  • stand for the time recommended by the manufacturer;
  • If your skin is highly sensitive, it is better to avoid a steam bath.

Proven Salipod

Among domestic patches, the most popular is Salipod. It has earned the love of customers due to its effectiveness, ease of use and affordable price. This callus patch for dry calluses can be used on all areas of the foot. It includes:

=Sulphur. This is an excellent antiseptic for the deep layers of the skin;

  • Salicylic acid. It dissolves dead cells, prevents the development of fungus and has an antimicrobial effect, and is also a conductor for sulfur;
  • Lanolin. Perfectly softens the skin;
  • Rosin. It has bactericidal properties.

It is recommended to stick Salipod on for 48 hours. Then it is removed, a steam bath is prepared and the skin is treated with pumice. If one procedure is not enough, it can be repeated every other day. These two-day compresses can be repeated no more than four times. During this time, Salipod is able to remove even very old formations.

The product is not recommended for use in the following cases:

  • children under 14 years of age;

  • patients taking anticancer drugs;
  • if the product cannot be applied without touching a birthmark, open wound or burn;
  • patients with diabetes mellitus. After using Salipod, microdamage to the skin may appear. In diabetes mellitus, such damage heals quite difficultly and can cause infection;
  • with renal failure;
  • during pregnancy and lactation;
  • if a zinc oxide product must be used on the damaged area.

Salipod rarely causes side effects. Sometimes, after repeated application, the following may be observed at the application site:

  • redness;
  • burning;
  • itching;
  • dermatitis.

Compeed by Johnson & Johnson

Without exaggeration, we can say that Compeed patches were created for all occasions. Compeed can be applied between and on the toes, heels and instep. This product can successfully combat all types of chafing and also prevents their occurrence.

Compeed uses hydrocolloid technology to produce it. Thanks to this, Velcro acts as a second skin. Externally it looks like silicone. Its safe adhesive substance can isolate nerve endings, reducing the intensity of pain. The breathable top layer is able to repel water and protect against friction, bacteria and pressure.

Compeed has the following advantages:

  • prevents crust formation;
  • waterproof;
  • holds even in hard-to-reach places;
  • almost invisible on the skin;
  • located in a convenient plastic container;
  • pleasant to the touch;
  • allows the skin to breathe;
  • isolates nerve endings;

The manufacturer also produces a gel-like anti-callus pencil. It is applied to damaged skin until it blisters or becomes rough. The product is colorless, making it completely invisible on the skin. Suitable for use by children.

It contains astringent and antiseptic components. The gel stick works as a natural lubricant, instantly reducing friction. In nine out of ten cases, it prevents the formation of blisters.

Dr. House

The pharmaceutical company Wellness Medical produces a whole line of adhesive plasters called Doctor House for the removal of calluses and corns. These anti-callus stickers are based on a hydrocolloid pad. It speeds up the resorption time of the blister and relieves pain.

For dry growths, the patch is additionally impregnated with salicylic acid. No more than two stickers will be needed to treat blisters. To deal with old chafing, you will need to use three to five adhesive bandages.

Urgo patch

Urgo stickers from a French manufacturer allow you to get rid of corns, warts and old dry calluses. They differ from competitors with foam padding. It helps protect healthy tissue from the effects of salicylic acid.

The sticker includes:

  • 32 grams of salicylic acid;
  • beeswax;
  • silica;
  • copper.

Salicylic acid in the composition allows you to dissolve the stratum corneum of the skin, which is located in the callus area. The patch must be changed daily after the bath. The number of applications is not limited. Stop using the product until the defect is eliminated only if itching or an allergic reaction occurs. Urgo should not be used on infected calluses.

Mode of application

For proper use, it is recommended to carefully read the instructions that come with the drug; the further result of the treatment will depend on how correctly the product is selected and used according to the instructions.

For wet calluses

The drug has a special structure that has bactericidal properties and prevents the formation of dryness at the site of injury.

It is recommended to use the patch as follows:

  • Wash the surface of the epidermis with antibacterial soap;
  • Remove all crusts from the skin and dry the skin;
  • Remove the protective film from the patch and apply tightly to the damaged area;
  • Do not remove the patch throughout the day.

It is recommended to use immediately after damage to the skin occurs.

If a small formation with liquid inside appears on the surface of the patch, this indicates complete absorption of the contents of the callus.

To prevent damage to the blister, you should stick the patch carefully and the first time, since when you stick it again, the sticky surface loses its quality and can come off after a short period of time.

Special instructions for use

To get quick and effective results, you need to know some of the features of using the Compeed callus patch.

Here are some of them:

  • Before purchasing, it is necessary to accurately determine the location and type of callus;

  • Before using the product, wash the damaged area with antibacterial soap;
  • For dry types of calluses, it is necessary to first steam the epidermis;
  • It is not allowed to stick the product on a wet surface; it is necessary to dry the epidermis with a towel;
  • It is forbidden to remove the patch until it begins to peel off on its own;
  • It is recommended to use the patch until the callus is eliminated;
  • It is recommended to apply the patch the first time, for more dense placement of the product on the skin;
  • Creams and ointments with an antibacterial effect should not be applied under the patch; this reduces the effectiveness of treatment and may contribute to the rapid peeling off of the callus remedy.

When used correctly, water procedures will not promote peeling and moisture transmission.

Contraindications

Before choosing Compeed for calluses, you should familiarize yourself with the following contraindications for use:

  • Do not use the callus remedy if there are cuts or open wounds on the epidermis;
  • If you have diabetes, you should consult your doctor;
  • Individual intolerance to the components of the product, which can lead to allergic reactions;
  • Do not use the product after the expiration date;
  • Do not use the patch if you have sensitive skin type, as the product has an increased adhesive application, which, when removed, can cause severe pain and redness at the site of use.

Plasters for core calluses

For core calluses, the choice is usually the Salipod patch.

It contains salicylic acid, precipitated sulfur, lanolin and natural rubber.

A fragment is manually cut out of the patch, the shape and diameter corresponding to the callus core.

It is applied to it and secured on top with an adhesive plaster for 48 hours.

If there is no effect, Salipod is reused.

This patch is very effective, but has a number of contraindications.

These are pregnancy, early childhood, allergic reactions, open wounds and moles at the site of callus formation, elderly and senile age, diabetes mellitus.

Care must be taken not to allow the Salipod patch to attach to healthy skin: burns are possible.

Compeed and Cosmos patches are used for ingrown calluses.

They are made using hydrocolloid “second skin” technology, which prevents infection after removal of the rod.

Removing dry calluses??? Or are we throwing 300 rubles down the drain???

The problem of calluses has been familiar to me for a long time; I remember when I was a child, the doctor advised to remove them with the help of pickled cucumbers - the result was zero. I have dry calluses from time to time, I fight them with the help of Collomak, this problem did not bother me for a couple of years, but a few months ago dry calluses appeared again. Moreover, initially I thought that the shoes were too tight for me, I couldn’t walk in them, every time I took a step I felt a burning pain. And one evening I noticed that a dry callus had formed between my toes; at least I wouldn’t have to buy a new pair of shoes.

At the pharmacy I asked the pharmacist to recommend a good patch and gave me a Compeed patch for dry calluses. It cost me the pleasure of 335 rubles.

Patch

Very convenient packaging with clear instructions on how to proceed in my case.

Reverse side of the package

Promises

If you remove the instructions, you get a plastic box for storing the patch.

Appearance of the box when closed

The package contains 10 pieces of patches, each covered with a sticky piece of paper on top, after removing which you get an easy-to-use piece of something resembling silicone or soft rubber. To be honest, the appearance of the Compeed patch inspires confidence, I was firmly convinced that it would deal with my dry calluses in no time. In addition, the convenient shape allows you to easily attach the patch between your fingers, it holds perfectly, you can walk with it for more than one day.

The box is convenient and lockable

The patch itself

On the first day I attached the patch between my fingers and didn’t feel it at all. A day later, I wanted to see if there was a result, I removed it, my callus remained the same as it was, and did not soften one bit.

I decided that I wasn’t holding the patch on enough, applied it to the callus a second time, took a new piece, and walked like that for 2 days. But what was my disappointment that this time the patch did not soften the callus, I couldn’t pick it out, although I already began to apply force to it; after about 10 minutes of futile efforts I realized that nothing good came of it, my finger hurt, and the callus “sat” in place.

The next day I went to the pharmacy, bought a patch for calluses for 100 rubles and successfully solved my problem the first time.

This beautiful plastic box still lies in the medicine cabinet; I photograph it only to write negative reviews.

I categorically do not recommend buying a patch for dry calluses Compeed, because... This is 335 rubles thrown away. A useless purchase, I hope the views from the review will at least slightly compensate for the money spent!
