Compound
Wheat is a grain crop that has long been revered in our latitudes. Bread and cereals are made from it; many people cannot imagine life without it. And it is not for nothing that it occupies a priority place in agricultural production. In terms of the content of biologically active substances, few other local crops can compare with it. And when the grain germinates, there are even more of them in the young, soft green shoots:
- Retinol (vitamin A) – normalizes sebum secretion, stimulates natural cell renewal, accelerates the production of collagen and elastin.
- Tocopherol (vitamin E) – neutralizes the harmful effects of free radicals, prevents the early appearance of wrinkles, strengthens the immune system and the protective properties of the skin.
- Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) - penetrates the hydrolipid barrier and restores damaged cells, has anti-inflammatory and rejuvenating properties.
- Group of B vitamins - vitamins of this group also directly affect the condition and appearance of the skin, helping to smooth out wrinkles and slow down age-related destructive processes.
- Calciferol (vitamin D) – promotes the absorption of calcium, regulates the production of the coloring pigment – melatonin.
- Nicotinic acid (vitamin PP) - strengthens the walls of blood vessels and capillaries, activates subcutaneous circulation, saturates cells with oxygen.
- Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is a strong natural antioxidant, prolongs youth, and has a slight whitening effect.
- Allatoins are substances with excellent anti-inflammatory and mild analgesic effects, stimulate the regeneration of cells and tissues.
- Minerals and trace elements are necessary for the skin for the normal course of metabolic processes and are part of the cells.
- Amino acids are the building blocks from which new layers of skin are built, they are necessary for the formation of collagen and elastin that maintain its elasticity, and help retain moisture.
- Fatty acids (linoleic, olienic, etc.) – protect cell membranes from destruction, soften and moisturize the skin, and form a thin protective film on it.
Please note that fatty acids are present in very small quantities. This is what makes wheat germ oil for the face such a versatile, and in some cases, almost irreplaceable product.
Precious drop
The calorie content of wheat germ oil is very high and amounts to 884 kcal per 100 g. However, in order to saturate the body with the beneficial substances contained in it in huge quantities, so much is not required. Even a drop of this substance can replace a vitamin purchased at the pharmacy. So what is in wheat germ oil that makes it so good?
- Polyunsaturated acids Omega-6, Omega-3 and Omega-9. They form the basis of the product (at least ?0 percent of the total volume). So, from 45 to 6 percent of the composition is Omega-6, about 10-12 percent in it is Omega-3, from 10 to 30 percent is Omega-9. In other words, wheat germ oil is no less beneficial than fish oil.
- The amino acids tryptophan, methionine, valine, leucine, isoleucine make the oil useful for cleansing blood vessels and maintaining the functioning of the heart muscle, forming muscle mass, and normalizing metabolism.
- 10 ml of wheat germ oil replenishes the body's daily need for vitamin E. Many people call it the vitamin of youth, as it is a powerful antioxidant. It is prescribed to men to improve reproductive functions, and to women during pregnancy to prevent pathologies during fetal formation. When used externally, it helps maintain skin elasticity and prevent the appearance of wrinkles.
- The product contains significant amounts of vitamins B, A, and D. All of them are antioxidants, participate in cell regeneration, collagen production, and increase the protective functions of the dermis. In addition, they strengthen the immune system and, as many experts believe, reduce the risk of cancer.
- Among the more than 20 macroelements and microelements contained in wheat germ oil, zinc and selenium should be highlighted first. This product contains especially many of them, and they are needed to improve sexual function in both women and men.
- One cannot ignore allantoin, which has bactericidal, moisturizing and restorative properties.
- Additionally, it should be noted that the product contains squalene, which is one of the most powerful antioxidants.
Thus, wheat germ oil can prolong youth, acting both internally and externally. Doesn't each of us dream of getting a substance that allows us to stay young? Such a substance exists, and this substance is wheat germ oil. At the same time, a precious drop of this oil costs mere pennies.
Action
Interestingly, wheat germ oil works on several levels of the skin at once. Some of its components remain only on the surface, others manage to penetrate into deeper layers. Therefore, the effect is quick and clearly visible.
Cosmetology considers the main beneficial properties of this product to be:
- Moisturizing. A thin protective film does not allow moisture to quickly evaporate from the surface of the skin. And the compounds present in the oil accumulate it at deeper levels.
- Emollient. Fatty acids seem to envelop the upper layer of the epidermis, making the surface of the skin soft and velvety.
- Restorative. Thanks to a large amount of antioxidants and amino acids, wheat germ oil creates all the conditions for rapid cell regeneration.
- Anti-aging. The same antioxidants are an excellent prevention of early wrinkle formation, and also prevent the appearance of signs of skin photoaging.
- Lightening. They are not too pronounced, but with regular use of the oil, the complexion becomes smoother, and freckles and age spots become less noticeable.
- Anti-inflammatory. Oil applications almost instantly relieve peeling, redness and itching, and help fight acne and minor rashes.
- Wound healing. The oil promotes rapid healing of wounds and microcracks, prevents the appearance of acne marks and spots.
Of course, wheat germ oil will not get rid of deep expression wrinkles and dark age spots. But it is often used after fairly aggressive cosmetic procedures (peelings, microdermabrasion, etc.) to quickly soothe and restore skin irritated by intense exposure.
Tips from cosmetologists
Professionals in their field advise girls and women who are going to independently perform procedures at home to adhere to some basic rules:
- be sure to check the tolerance of a particular component; if this is negative, consider other options, such as avocado oil;
- do not keep the mask on for longer than the specified time;
- take a break between courses for at least 2 weeks;
- if you have serious skin problems, it is better to consult a dermatologist or cosmetologist first, rather than self-medicate;
- take a comprehensive approach to the matter, that is, establish nutrition, cleanse your face regularly, apply skincare products, drink enough water, etc.
Rules of application
Wheat germ oil is widely used in home cosmetology and is often included in ready-made products, including professional ones. This only confirms its high efficiency.
In addition, it is a hypoallergenic oil. But, due to the high content of biologically active substances, it is better for people with sensitive skin to do a preliminary tolerance test.
To get maximum results from the product, it is important to know the basic rules for its use:
- In its pure form, it is advisable to apply it only to very dry and severely irritated skin, pointwise or locally.
- For problem areas, it is allowed to use only in the absence of ulcers and active inflammatory processes.
- Do not apply wheat germ oil directly to open wounds, cracks and ulcers, or use it for wet eczema.
- After peelings and other aggressive procedures, its use is allowed after the active recovery stage, when the crusts have already begun to come off or peeling has appeared.
- The oil works better if it is warmed to body temperature before use - this way the active substances can penetrate deeper.
- When used for massage, it can be heated in a water bath even to a temperature of 40-45 ° C, but not higher, so as not to destroy the beneficial substances.
- The product mixes well with other natural and essential oils, but it is better to do this immediately before use in small quantities.
- When in contact with metal, its beneficial properties sharply decrease, so it is better to use glass or plastic containers and wooden or plastic spoons (spatulas) for preparing masks.
- Germ oil is afraid of sunlight and contact with air. It should be stored in a tightly sealed bottle, in a closed cabinet, at a temperature of no more than 25°C.
- After opening the bottle, its shelf life is sharply reduced and it is better to use the contents within a maximum of 2-3 months.
And I’ll say a few words about the purchase. This is one of the few oils that can be safely ordered online. There are very few fakes, since the cost of the product is low. But still, do not forget to pay attention to the expiration date and ask to see a quality certificate. It can also be purchased at health food stores or pharmacies.
Restorative properties of wheat germ oil
Wheat germ contains a lot of vitamin E and group B, which affect the skin, choline, biotin, folic and nicotinic acids, which is why wheat germ oil around the eyes is so useful.
Properties of wheat germ oil for the skin around the eyes:
- deeply moisturizes;
- restores water balance;
- heals any damage and wounds;
- eliminates acne, rashes;
- evens out the skin structure;
- strengthens capillaries;
- smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles.
Wheat oil is often used in the treatment of skin diseases, such as dermatitis, acne or eczema. It can be used either in pure form or in combination with other components. It tightens the contour of the face, removes bags and swelling under the eyes, and improves skin color.
Application
There are several ways to effectively use germinal oil for cosmetic and medicinal purposes. It is often included in oil mixtures for facial massage and gives excellent results. It can also be applied topically for applications on problem areas. And the most popular method is using homemade masks.
Massage
Facial massage is generally a very useful procedure, which, in the absence of contraindications, should be done regularly by everyone, including men. It improves blood circulation, tones muscles and blood vessels, accelerates lymph flow, allows you to correct the shape of the face and slows down age-related destructive processes in the skin.
At the same time, the beneficial substances from the oils used penetrate deep enough into the skin and work intensively in it for several hours after the end of the procedure. Therefore, it is very important that the compositions are natural.
Since the germ oil itself is quite dense and heavy, it is better to mix it with lighter ones. The best option is when it makes up a third of the mixture, and the remaining two are from a combination of any of the oils listed below:
- grape seeds – further enhances antioxidant properties, strengthens capillaries, and rejuvenates;
- apricot kernels – perfectly softens and moisturizes the skin, helps smooth out wrinkles;
- almond – has a pronounced whitening effect, removes marks and spots from acne well;
- argan – a powerful stimulator of skin cell division, has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect;
- amaranth – significantly accelerates regeneration, rejuvenates, refreshes and improves complexion.
Do not mix wheat germ extract with dense and very active oils: sea buckthorn, jojoba, shea. Coconut and olive oil can be added in small quantities. By themselves, they are neutral, but they thicken the film that forms on the face and can cause clogging of pores, especially on oily skin.
The effect of the massage will be stronger if the prepared mixture is slightly warmed up. And after it, be sure to thoroughly wash your skin so that no oily film or released toxins remain. Keeping the composition on your face after a massage as a mask is strictly not recommended!
Applications
Oil applications, according to reviews from my clients, can significantly reduce the depth of facial wrinkles. As a professional, I will say that this is impossible with the help of oils alone - the result will be temporary. But visually, the condition of the skin in problem areas does improve somewhat due to intense hydration and active cell renewal.
Such applications can be applied only in the complete absence of inflammatory processes in the selected area of the skin. The oil must be heated in a water bath to a temperature of 45-50°C. Then apply it to facial wrinkles, cover them with pieces of cellophane and hold for 10-15 minutes (no more!). Afterwards, thoroughly wash your entire face and apply a high-quality filler or lifting cream.
Masks
There are a lot of recipes for masks with wheat germ oil. Below I will list only a few of the simplest and most effective for different skin types. Let me remind you that it takes time for them to show results - from two to four weeks. Therefore, you will have to be patient and do them regularly - 2-3 times a week.
Anti-fat
The composition of this mask includes the pharmaceutical biologically active drug “Ascorutin”. It is sold in tablets, which must be thoroughly crushed into powder before use. It contains rutin and ascorbic acid, which penetrate into the deep layers of the skin and regulate the activity of the sebaceous glands.
Heat a tablespoon of germinal oil in a water bath and mix with two tablets of Ascorutin and tea cosmetic clay. You can also add a couple of drops of tea tree oil, lavender or cloves. Apply an even layer to the face, avoiding the area around the eyes. Leave until completely dry and carefully rinse with lukewarm water. After such a mask, you definitely need a moisturizer.
Softening
This mask is for deep moisturizing and softening the skin. It is rich in vitamins and minerals. Quickly eliminates irritation, peeling and itching, promotes restoration and compaction of the upper layer of the epidermis.
You will have to prepare oatmeal in advance, grind the flakes in a coffee grinder without additives. One tablespoon is enough. To it you need to add a slightly warmed mixture of wheat germ oil and any of the light oils listed above, as well as 3-5 drops of essential oil (orange, neroli, patchouli, lavender, etc.). Stir everything until smooth and thick as sour cream, apply to face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Remove the residue with a napkin and rinse with warm water and a small amount of gel.
For acne
This composition has powerful detox properties due to the presence of cosmetic clay, as well as antibacterial properties - they are provided by essential oils. The mask is not suitable for very thin and sensitive skin, and is also not used for active inflammatory processes - it can cause severe irritation.
Mix a tablespoon of wheat germ oil with a teaspoon of another, lighter one. Thicken the composition with cosmetic clay so that it does not drip off the face. Add 2 drops each of eucalyptus, fir, castor and half a teaspoon of lemon juice. Distribute over face and keep for no more than 15 minutes. Wash thoroughly and apply a soothing cream.
From crow's feet
For delicate skin in the area around the eyes, germ oil is too active in its pure form. But an oil application with a softer composition will help you quickly get rid of crow's feet, bruises and not too pronounced bags.
Mix one teaspoon each of grape seed oil, peach oil, apricot oil and wheat germ oil. Add 2 drops of essential oils: rosemary, patchouli and lavender. Warm a small amount of the composition, moisten a cotton swab and wipe the skin in the periorbital area. After 15 minutes, rinse well with warm water and gel and apply lifting cream around the eyes.
Reviews
I have been smearing wheat germ oil under my eyes for several years before going to bed, there was no swelling. Now I’ve stopped applying it, but still no wrinkles, even though I’m already 31 years old.

Yes Yes! It perfectly cleanses the face of cosmetics and other impurities. Later I began to add castor and peach oil to it, with them the effect is even stronger - but I use the mixture with castor oil only a couple of times a week, the rest of the time - both in the morning and in the evening, I cleanse the skin with a cotton pad soaked in warm (rather hot) water with the addition of this oil (or peach). At first I thought that my face would remain oily, but nothing like that - my skin went from combination to normal in just a month. Immediately after using the oil, the face is a little shiny, but this goes away after about 10 minutes. Or you can remove the residue with a towel, but I usually wait until it is completely absorbed. I don't use any creams now! And my skin is happy and hydrated, my pores are clean, my pimples and breakouts are gone.

It all started when an employee brought me a book about essential and cosmetic oils to read. I read it in one sitting and found it interesting. I think we should try it. The first thing that was interesting to do was to enrich the cream with cosmetic oil. I first bought wheat germ oil. I added a little to a portion of the night cream and applied it to my face after cleansing the skin. In the morning it was not leather, but peach!!! The oil softens the skin, nourishes, heals everything that should not be on the skin, and evens out. I REALLY liked it. I do it 2 times a week.

Not long ago I became interested in natural cosmetics to care for my already mature skin (I’m 30 years old). Store-bought and pharmacy creams are not suitable for me: I start using them and after 2-3 days pimples begin to appear. And with age, skin requires more and more care and it must be complete. So I decided to use wheat germ oil (rich in vitamin E and other anti-aging factors) to care for the skin around the eyes, where the skin is thinnest and prone to wrinkles. After a sunny summer beach, the skin was quite dehydrated and wrinkles began to appear in the corners of the eyes when smiling. I started using THIS miracle oil on a damp cotton pad every evening to remove makeup, and you won’t believe it, in the morning the skin is elastic, nourished, glowing, the tone has evened out, the dark circles have gone away and the condition of the skin has noticeably improved. At 30, people around me give me no more than 20.

Many manufacturers add wheat germ oil to cosmetics as an active ingredient: Doliva, AROMA JAZZ, Kora, R-cosmetics, Ecolab, Embryolisse, MONU, etc. So why not use this valuable component in its original form in facial care?

Contraindications
The main contraindication to wheat germ oil is its individual intolerance, which is easily determined by a test. If, after applying to the elbow or the inside of the wrist, a negative skin reaction does not appear within 15 minutes, you can safely use the product.
Its use is also not recommended for:
- fresh post-operative scars;
- in the first days after chemical or laser peeling;
- on severe burns and open wounds;
- ulcers and severely inflamed acne.
When combining with other cosmetic products or oils, take into account the possible presence of contraindications for them too. During pregnancy, theoretically, the oil cannot harm, but it is better to consult with a supervising specialist before using it.
It is also not recommended to apply it to the delicate skin around the eyes, but you can add 1-2 drops to your eye cream.
You should not leave pure wheat germ oil on your face for more than 20-30 minutes, much less overnight. It can also cause severe irritation, especially on thin skin.
In general, it is better to do any oil masks in the morning or no later than two hours before bedtime, so as not to cause morning swelling and allow the skin to breathe normally at night.
Precautionary measures
Despite the miraculous properties of oil obtained from wheat sprouts, there are contraindications to the use of this product. This:
- Intolerance. Individual intolerance to this product is extremely rare, however, the possibility of developing an allergy cannot be completely excluded. Therefore, do a simple sensitivity test so as not to risk your health.
- Cuperosis. If you have a vascular network on your face, it is not recommended to apply oil. The fact is that this product stimulates blood circulation, and this will lead to a worsening of the condition.
- Presence of open wounds. Do not use oil if there are wounds on the face, as well as unhealed stitches after surgery. Applying oil will slow down the healing process.
