Cosmetologists are increasingly recommending that women use essential rose oil for facial care, which has many beneficial properties for the skin. Brief description and composition

In the modern world, oil from Damask rose petals is still one of the most popular in cosmetology, pharmaceuticals, aromatherapy, and perfumery.

The product is available not only to professionals. It is actively used at home, because the life-giving power of rose petals helps eliminate wrinkles, nourishes and moisturizes the face, giving it radiance and tone.

Essential oil obtained from rose petals has a complex composition. Its components are like notes that together create a beautiful melody. It is a thick transparent liquid of yellow-green or yellow color.

Interestingly, it acquires its incomparable aroma only with strong dilution. The concentrate smells sharp and unpleasant.

General rules for effectively using rose essential oil for the face

  1. Pure rose oil for face is a very expensive product, for this reason it can be sold in bottles of 1, 3, 5 and 10 ml. In addition, much more often than pure ether, cosmetic oil is sold in which rose ether is diluted in a base oil (almond, peach, apricot, jojoba, avocado, etc.) in a ratio of 1:20 or 1:30. It is quite suitable for cosmetic purposes, but just like pure, it needs dilution. If a specific recipe indicates the number of drops of natural 100% ether, then when using cosmetic oil you just need to take a slightly larger amount.
  2. It is advisable to use an oil product to care for oily, sensitive, irritated and problematic types of epidermis; Its effect will be just as beneficial for aging, aging skin.
  3. The drug can be used at any time of the year, it is not phototoxic. In addition, it is suitable for both young and skin that has already undergone age-related changes.
  4. Before the first use of any natural oil product, you need to carry out an allergy test: apply a drop of ether, diluted in a cream or other base, to a sensitive area (behind the earlobe, in the bend of the elbow), leave for 30-40 minutes and evaluate the result. If unpleasant symptoms such as rash, irritation or itching do not appear, the ether can be used as an additive to skin care products.
  5. You can enrich finished cosmetic preparations with rose oil in the following proportion: per 10 ml of base (cream, lotion, serum), it is permissible to add 1-3 drops of ether.
  6. Masks and medicinal mixtures must be diluted in non-metallic containers (porcelain, ceramics, glass), stirring with a wooden or plastic spoon. The metal can enter into oxidative reactions with the components of the mask.
  7. Freshly prepared masks can be stored for no more than 2 hours, and homemade tonics, lotions and creams can be stored in the refrigerator for a week.
  8. Course: a month, 1-3 rubles/week in the evening, after which there should be a pause of 1-2 months so as not to cause addiction.
  9. The exposure time of the mask is no more than 15-20 minutes. There are two ways to remove the mask from your face: wash with clean water or wipe off with a cotton swab (disk) soaked in warm milk.

For information

Rose essential oils in recipes go well with most base oils, as well as with essential oils of sage, clove, chamomile, orange, geranium and neroli. To obtain a lifting effect, rose should be combined with esters of patchouli, cypress, immortelle, lavender or lemongrass.

Aromatherapy

Ancient Chinese texts describe how the soul of plants lives in their scent. It’s easy to believe this when you inhale the noble scent of rose oil.

Aromatization of premises

To liken your state of mind to the beauty of a perfect flower, add 3-5 drops of ether into the aroma lamp. Without letting the water boil, scent the room for 15–30 minutes. Rose oil ennobles our condition by bringing:

  • calm;
  • a good mood;
  • optimism;
  • tolerance.

Having inhaled rose ethers, you want to hold the exhalation and preserve the sweet and refined aroma inside. In addition to the floral scent, spicy honey and smoky notes are detected. “True femininity” is how the exciting aroma is briefly described. In addition to its mild tonic effect, rose eliminates nervous tension, depression, and enhances sensuality. A harmonizing effect has been observed in all mood pathologies. This is probably due to the Queen of Flowers' ability to increase concentration. Thanks to the ability to focus on the desired state of mind, it is possible to bring it to life. In case of despondency, a rose instills cheerfulness; in case of neurosis, it calms. No other flower acts in this way.

For those who want to always “carry” the scent of a rose with them, I advise you to purchase an aroma pendant, which is worn as a decoration around the neck. The oil in it evaporates very sparingly; one drop is enough for 3 days.

An aroma pendant is not only a carrier of your favorite scent, but also a decoration

From the author: make your shadow white

Bringing beauty is a good thing when this activity does not completely absorb a person. If you elevate external beauty to the highest value, disappointments are inevitable. We become very vulnerable by allowing our happiness to depend on the presence or absence of cosmetic defects. Moderation and balance are important even in self-care.

There are very few people who are ideally beautiful in appearance. There are many more people who have a beautiful soul, but an ordinary appearance. This is sad and not fair. In this case, rose ethers extract inner beauty and manifest it outwardly. It is not for nothing that many describe the effect of rose oil in such poetic words:

  • the face seems to glow from within;
  • I see the glow of youth in the mirror;
  • I am in a fragrant cloud of harmony and beauty;
  • inhaling the scent of roses, I am happy and soaring.

This is the manifestation of inner light under the harmonizing influence of the rose scent. There is a balancing of internal and external. Beauty is brought out: on the face, body, hair.

How can a rose help if there is no peace and harmony inside? It will make your shadow white, as they say, in the poems of Vyacheslav Butusov. By performing rose oil therapy, you can finally understand what true beauty is. After all, it is in a harmonious balance of internal and external. Beauty will arise if it did not exist. Ugly thoughts, feelings, and actions will go away. Purity will illuminate the soul. It will help if it seems that your life is not real: there is no beauty in your soul, there is no beauty in your deeds. To live a full life, you need to bring your inner and outer worlds into harmony. The scent of a rose will give you a push in the right direction and will help you on the path to finding true harmony and happiness. Let roses bloom in your soul.

Rose oil for face: application

In order to use rose oil for the face to the fullest, so to speak, to feel all its rejuvenating power, all that remains is to choose from the many options for using the fragrant product that is most suitable for yourself. The most popular ways to use rose oil for the face at home are described below - massage, preparation of creams and adding ether to ready-made care products, masks, lotions, tonics and the famous rose water.

For massage

This procedure is useful for improving complexion, smoothing out fine wrinkles, and activating the synthesis of collagen and elastin in skin cells.

For the massage you will need: rose ether (2-3 drops) + almond oil base (10 ml).

Heat the base product a little in a water bath, add ether to it. Dip your fingers into the warm mixture and carry out sliding, stroking movements along the massage lines and tapping in the eye area. Each movement can be repeated 5 times, while covering the delicate areas of the neck and décolleté. Course: 2-3 times/year for 10-12 procedures.

Addition to finished cosmetics

Rose essential oil can be added to your usual face care cream or other thick cosmetic product in the ratio: 2 drops of rose essential oil per single serving of cream. To enrich tonics or lotions that have a thinner consistency, the proportion will be different: for 1 glass of care product – 7-8 drops of essential oil.

Precautionary measures

Oil made from rose petals is a highly concentrated product. It must be used with great caution. The product is added drop by drop to facial cosmetics. Typically, 2-3 drops of rose oil are used for 1 teaspoon of product.

You also need to remember about possible allergic reactions. To make sure there is no hypersensitivity, the drug is applied to the back of the wrist or behind the ear. The absence of redness and rashes after 24 hours indicates the absence of allergies.

Contraindications:

  • individual intolerance;
  • diseases of the heart and blood vessels;
  • pregnancy;
  • lactation period.

Pink water

Preparation:

  1. Measure out 1.5 cups of filtered (distilled, mineral) water and pour it into a bottle (you can use a spray bottle).
  2. Drop 1-2 drops of wild rose ether inside.
  3. Close the bottle and shake vigorously. Do this before each use.

Advice

Since oil does not dissolve in water, sometimes, if desired, you can use an emulsifier (for example, honey, salt or alcohol - ½ teaspoon), drop oil into it, and then dissolve this mass in water.

Rose water can be used in different ways, for example:

  • tonic - wipe your face with a cotton swab or pad soaked in rose water, and also spray your face with aromatic liquid from a spray bottle;
  • cosmetic ice - freeze it in ice trays and wipe your face in the morning/evening;
  • compress for the sensitive area around the eyes - soak cotton pads or pieces of gauze in aromatic water, apply to the eyelids and leave for 10-15 minutes.

Anti-aging creams

  • For the face against wrinkles: avocado and apricot oils (3 tablespoons each), almond oil (1/2 teaspoon) + vitamin E (1 capsule) + elderberry tincture with alcohol (30 ml) + lanolin (30 g) ) + glycerin (10 g) + rose ether (2-3 drops).
  1. Heat the elderberry infusion and oil components in different dishes.
  2. Add lanolin to the heated oil mixture and dissolve while stirring. Cool.
  3. Pour the elderberry infusion into the prepared mixture while whisking the mixture.
  4. Cool and add ether, glycerin and vitamins. Mix everything.

Course: 1-2 r/day. The cream must be stored in the refrigerator.

  • For the skin around the eyes: olive oil (1 tablespoon) + rose essential oil (2 drops). Mix everything well and apply to the area around the eyes an hour before evening rest. Do not rinse, blot off any remaining residue with a clean, damp cloth.

Lotions

  1. For mixed, oily and problematic types of epidermis: salicylic alcohol (15 ml) + rose ether (10 drops) + mineral or filtered water (glass) + glycerin (50 ml). Apply lotion to cleansed face, shaking first, twice a day.
  2. Cleansing, for all skin types: a mixture of peach (2 teaspoons), rose (2 drops), almond (65 ml) and sesame (2 tablespoons) oils. Pour the mixture into a suitable bottle with a lid. Shake until smooth before use.

Tonic for all types of epidermis

Preparation: rose water (350 ml) + dry rose petals (about 25 g) + apple cider vinegar (50 ml) + rose oil (2 drops).

Place the petals in a glass container or bottle, add the remaining ingredients and leave for three weeks in a dark place. Use as a regular cleansing or refreshing facial toner.

Advice for those who live outside the city

If you are in love with the scent of rose ether, one day you will want to plant a Damask or Centifolia rose in your garden. However, this risks disappointment. Essential oil varieties bloom in one wave in June, the remaining summer months have nothing to admire and nothing to smell - the rose does not bloom. As an experienced rose grower, I recommend placing decorative roses of continuous flowering in your garden, for example, the Westerland variety. Three bushes of these roses near the windows will fill the area with a fabulous pink aroma throughout the summer season.

The unpretentious Westerland rose in my garden continuously throws out clusters of new flowers, spreading a divine aroma

Basic Rules

In order for home cosmetic procedures to bring maximum effect, you need to remember the nuances of using essential oils:

  • When heated to temperatures above 38 degrees, valuable substances evaporate from rose oil. Therefore, never add ether to hot mixtures. If the recipe calls for some product (for example, honey) to be heated, then first cool the mixture and then add the ether;
  • The principle “the more, the more effective” does not work when preparing cosmetic formulations with essential oils. Do not exceed the dosage indicated in the prescription;
  • Apply prepared formulations only to previously cleansed skin. The holding time should not exceed twenty minutes.
  • If you want to eliminate cosmetic defects, you need to use rose essential oil once every three to four days. If the procedures are carried out for preventive purposes, then it is enough to do them weekly;
  • Do not use essential oil for too long; after 15 procedures, you need to take a break.
