Rose water for the face is a unique liquid that can restore youth and radiance to the skin.

Hi all!

Last year I visited Crimea. I didn't regret the trip one bit. She brought a lot of cosmetics. Some I liked, some I didn’t quite like. But my skin loved one cosmetic product so much that now I order it all the time.

Rose water for your face does incredible things. This is one of those components that has powerful anti-aging properties. You may have heard its other name - rose hydrolate. They say that Cleopatra herself used it, but she loved to take care of herself.

This natural product contains a lot of antioxidants, which is why it has an anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. And most importantly, this component can be successfully combined with other ingredients.

Next, you will find out what other benefits this healing elixir has, whether it can be prepared at home, and how to use it. I am sure you will be surprised at the versatile uses of this wonderful remedy. Okay, let's move on to the fun part.

Quality characteristics of rose water

Due to its beneficial properties, people say about rose water: “Life-giving moisture.” Flower liquid is able to maintain its qualities without the use of carcinogens, parabens, preservatives, and does not deteriorate for a long time. It is used to disinfect the skin surface and treat microcracks in the epidermis. Rose water is an integral component for the production of eau de toilette, deodorants, and body sprays. Rose petals contain large amounts of tocopherol. Thanks to this quality, flower liquid is added to anti-aging face creams.

How does rose water affect the skin?

Strengthens the walls of blood vessels; Reduces skin itching; Participates in the regeneration of epidermal cells; Moisturizes and soothes the skin; Has an antiseptic effect; Used to prevent burns after prolonged exposure to the sun; Eliminates inflammatory processes.

For medical purposes it is used for diseases of the upper respiratory tract, in the complex treatment of women's diseases. In ophthalmology, rose water is used for inflammatory eye diseases in the form of compresses. The cosmetic product does not contain alcohol-containing components, does not dehydrate the skin, and is suitable for problematic sensitive skin.

Under the influence of tannins contained in rose water, the surface of the epidermis becomes smooth and silky. It is recommended to use flower water as a stand-alone product for daily facial skin care. As part of the toner, rose water removes oily shine, cleanses pores of dust, and protects the skin from adverse environmental factors.

Mechanism of action

The benefit of rose water lies in the ability to use it to influence the basic biological processes occurring in the skin:

  • fill dermal cells with moisture, increasing turgor and helping to revitalize internal biochemical reactions;
  • inhibit the reproduction and growth of microorganisms that enter the skin from the air or are carried by the bloodstream from diseased organs;
  • enhance the regenerative processes of the facial skin, which constantly occur in it and lead to tissue renewal;
  • nourish the skin with natural rose oils, vitamins B, A and E;
  • saturate with microelements and antioxidants;
  • accelerate the detoxification process, compensating for the harmful effects of toxins and other harmful factors.

This powerful potential of the plant is explained by its natural composition. Interestingly, such properties persist even after the plant withers.

Advice

When wiping the skin with rose water, movements with the tampon should be carried out along cosmetic lines, without injuring or disturbing its natural structure.

Hair care

Natural water from rose petals has a beneficial effect not only on the skin, but also on the hair. How does flower hydrosol affect curls?

Stimulates hair growth; Prevents hair loss; Moisturizes and nourishes damaged curls; Soothes irritated scalp; Eliminates inflammatory processes in hair follicles; Fights dandruff; Fragrances hair.

Using rose water for hair

To make it silky, rub a small amount of water into the scalp and distribute along the entire length of the curls. After half an hour, wash your hair in the usual way using natural shampoo. Before washing your hair, dilute natural shampoo with rose hydrosols in a 2:1 ratio. Wash your hair as usual. To nourish hair follicles: mix glycerin oil with rose water in a 1:1 ratio. Rub the mixture into the root zone of your hair. After half an hour, remove any remaining product with shampoo. Apply the mask once a week. Rose water is recommended to be used as a rinse after washing your hair. To restore damaged curls after coloring and exposure to high temperatures, it is recommended to make a mask once a week: mix tocopherol (1 capsule) with five drops of jojoba oil. Add the mixture to 50 ml of rose water. Stir the solution until smooth. Apply to the scalp, rubbing the product into the root zone of the hair. Distribute the rest of the mask over the entire length of the strands. Remove any remaining mask after ten minutes with shampoo.

Rose water - preparation and use at home

Everyone is familiar with the expression “beauty requires sacrifice.” No, I do not urge you to sacrifice anything, including yourself, but only to preserve the beauty, youth and freshness of the skin of your face and body. Rose water will help you with this; you can prepare it yourself at home. It is included in many masks and various skin products. By preparing it yourself, you will be sure that all the ingredients in it are natural and nothing can harm your skin. In addition, you will have the opportunity to create natural cosmetics specifically for your skin type.

Rose hydrolate and its properties

Real rose water is a regular hydrosol made from rose petals. Let me explain: “Rose hydrolate is floral water obtained in the process of making essential oils from the petals, inflorescences and leaves of certain herbs. Therefore, it is also called “essential” and has many valuable properties that are in demand in cosmetology.

The beneficial properties of rose hydrolate are multifaceted:

- nourishes and moisturizes the skin, which when used becomes more elastic and the tone is evened out;

- normalization of blood circulation in the dermis and strengthening of capillaries, stimulation of lymph flow, so use in the presence of hyperemia or telangiectasia gives good results;

- preventing early withering of the epidermis, stimulating cell regeneration. It is no coincidence that anti-aging cosmetology programs often include rose water;

— tidying up the water balance, as well as the functioning of the sweat and sebaceous glands, which has a positive effect on the skin and the general condition of the whole body;

- healing of wounds, burns, irritations, as well as treatment of infectious diseases of the oral cavity, since it is a natural antiseptic that destroys microbes;

- protection against dark circles and bags under the eyes. The delicate eyelid area is soothed and moisturized. Also, compresses with it will help people who work a lot at the computer, removing fatigue, tension and redness from tired eyes;

- promoting hair growth. With the help of the components of the product - phytohormones, the scalp area is toned, irritation is relieved, and the strands themselves receive full hydration.

You can make your own from rose petals: lotions, masks and just infusions. They are all very simple and useful. They are able to have several effects on the skin of the face at once:

  • tone, refresh;
  • have a slight disinfecting effect;
  • relieve skin and eye fatigue;
  • fight wrinkles;
  • compensate for moisture loss in the heat;
  • remove bags under the eyes;
  • protect against sunburn;
  • have a calming effect on irritated, itchy areas of the skin;
  • normalize complexion.

Making rose water at home

Important advice: immediately after making the product, pour it into pre-sterilized glass bottles, close them tightly and store in the refrigerator.

Recipe 1

Preparing condensate at home is quite simple. The main thing is good raw materials. To prepare rose water, homemade roses grown in the garden and not purchased at the market are suitable. When growing roses for sale, many chemicals are used, and all of them will end up in the prepared water. so, we are looking for homemade roses or rose hips. To make the water more saturated with essential oils, you need to collect half-opened buds, preferably early in the morning, when the ether has not yet had time to evaporate from the heat.

You will need a regular, non-electric kettle with a spout, a tube the diameter of the kettle spout, a cup of ice water and a container for collecting rose water.

Place the petals in a teapot and add water. The quantity is enough to cover all the roses. In general, the less water, the higher the concentration will be.

It is advisable to find a plastic tube for the spout of the kettle. rubber may give off an odor. A meter of tube will be enough. Place one end on the spout of the teapot, lower the middle into a cup of ice water to cool the condensation, and the other end into a container where the rose water will drain.

The water with the petals in the teapot needs to be brought to a boil, then put on low heat and wait until the liquid evaporates. This may take up to two hours. The collected liquid should be tightly sealed and stored in the refrigerator. It can be stored for a maximum of a couple of weeks.

Recipe 2 (very simple)

Pour three tablespoons of rose petals into two glasses of boiling water. Infuse in a tightly sealed container (preferably in a thermos) for 12 hours. Afterwards you can use it for its intended purpose.

Recipe 3 (easy to prepare)

Lay the bottom of the pan with rose petals, pour filtered or mineral water, slightly covering the petals. When it boils a little, reduce the heat and keep it there until the petals are completely discolored. After cooling, drain the water, squeeze out the petals, and strain the solution into a container.

Recipe 4

This recipe is the simplest of all the ones offered. You will need pure spring water - 250 ml and two drops of rose essential oil. This water should also be stored in a closed bottle.

Lotions and tonics

Making lotions and tonics from roses at home is also not difficult. To do this, you will need several ingredients that may well be in the kitchen:

  • Add about one spoon of lemon juice and 20 g of honey to the prepared rose water, mix everything. This lotion perfectly tones and refreshes the skin;
  • add a tablespoon of citrus juice (orange, lemon) to rose water;
  • apple cider vinegar (1 tsp), 2 tbsp. l. juice of sour fruits or berries, a pinch of soda plus ready-made water - here is a recipe for an excellent lotion that cleanses the skin.

Masks

Rejuvenating, soothing, complexion-improving masks are also very easy to prepare at home:

  • 1 tbsp. l. Mix oatmeal and rose water into a paste. Apply to skin and leave for about 20 minutes.
  • Combine the juice of grated and squeezed cucumber with any tonic (see recipes above), add a little sour cream and cottage cheese until you obtain a paste-like mass. Keep the mask on for 20 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. This recipe is suitable for those who want to whiten their skin.

In addition to the above methods of using rose petals, rubbing with ice cubes of rose water will give a greatly increased effect. A strong invigorating and refreshing effect on the skin of the face will be guaranteed.

Recommendation: to make a product made with your own hands from roses more fragrant and effective, you need to use red roses of strong-smelling varieties. You need to collect petals in the morning.

Uses of rose water

It will be useful to wipe or rinse the skin in the morning and evening. There will be no harm from such frequent use: this product is hypoallergenic. But there are several other ways to use flower water:

  • you can wash your face;
  • on hot days, you can carry a spray bottle of water with you to spray open areas of the body: freshness and aroma will always be nearby;
  • You can apply cotton pads soaked in this miracle water to tired or swollen eyes;
  • Spraying the body before visiting the beach is useful: there will be less risk of burns, and the tan will lie more evenly.;
  • mix a tablespoon of rose water with turmeric powder and add a few drops of lemon, then with the help of this mask you can remove youthful acne and reduce the oiliness of the skin;
  • A mixture of rose water and beet juice in equal proportions will help give your lips a natural pink color;
  • Making a quality facial moisturizer from rose water is quite simple. Mix glycerin with rose water and olive or almond oil;
  • Rose water is added to masks to remove wrinkles. Whisk an egg yolk with a tablespoon of rose water and add a spoonful of almond oil. A tablespoon of rose water mixed with egg white will also help get rid of wrinkles;
  • A mask of rose water, glycerin, honey and a few drops of lemon juice will help make your skin soft and silky.

Making rose water yourself at home is the simplest task, but remember that the benefits of this cannot be compared with many store-bought products due to its naturalness and environmental friendliness. Applying this homemade magic to your self-care routine is pure pleasure.

Beneficial properties of rose hydrolate

I've heard a lot of flattering reviews about rose water before. But after purchasing it, I wanted to know more. It turns out that it is suitable for all skin types and its use can help cope with any problems.

  1. Regulates skin pH.
  2. This is the acid-base balance. It can be disrupted due to too frequent use of aggressive facial cleansers, such as soap. This leads to bacterial growth and nasty pimples. So, rose water will help return the skin's pH to 5.5. This value is optimal for this indicator.

  3. Tones the epidermis.
  4. Never neglect toning! Skin care should have at least 3 steps. I'm not even talking about the Asian system. Using tonic (toner) is a very important procedure. It helps remove residue from cleansers and is the first step in moisturizing.

    Rose hydrosol is very suitable for this role. Regulating the pH of the skin is its main trump card. After using it, all subsequent products will be much better absorbed by your epidermis.

  5. No acne.
  6. Oh, those hated acne that especially plague us in the summer. And if the humidity is also high, then it’s a complete nightmare. Rose hydrolate, thanks to its pH-balancing properties, will combat this problem. It will help reduce the appearance of acne and will not provoke new ones. Yes, long live clear skin!

  7. Hydration is the key to youth.
  8. If you think that all toners dry out the skin, then you are deeply mistaken. Such a soft and natural ingredient as rose water, on the contrary, will soothe, refresh and thoroughly moisturize your epidermis. This is a real salvation for dehydrated skin that is constantly thirsty. Rose hydrosol is easy to apply using a cotton pad or simply sprinkling.

  9. Reduces swelling.
  10. If you suffer from puffy eyes and want to get rid of it, try rose water. Soak two cotton pads with it and apply to your eyes. This will help remove swelling in a matter of minutes. But before that, cool the hydrolate a little.

  11. For sensitive skin.
  12. It is very difficult for people with sensitive epidermis to choose cosmetic products for themselves. Rose water is a very mild product that is suitable even in such cases. It soothes redness and eliminates irritation. And all thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties. And most importantly, it has no side effects.

  13. Refreshes the epidermis.
  14. Rose water is especially good in the summer. When it's hot, you can easily refresh her skin. Take a spray filled with rose hydrosol with you and use it at any time. It can even be used over makeup. Moisturizing, freshness and elasticity of the skin are guaranteed.

  15. Slows down aging.
  16. Agree, every woman wants to delay the appearance of wrinkles on her skin. But sometimes we ourselves do not understand what provokes their occurrence. We forget about using sunscreen, use inappropriate cosmetics, get stressed, lead an unhealthy lifestyle, and this can also include the unfavorable environmental situation in cities.

    All these factors lead to the formation of free radicals, which damage our skin and lead to wrinkles. The antioxidants found in rose water actively fight them, thereby maintaining the health of the epidermis.

  17. Soothes the skin.
  18. Do you suffer from skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis? Rose hydrosol will come to the rescue here too. Its cooling and anti-inflammatory qualities will soothe irritation and reduce aggravation caused by such diseases.

  19. Helps against sunburn.

If you forget to apply sunscreen and suddenly get a sunburn, use rose water. Thanks to its cooling properties, it will help soothe the epidermis and, most importantly, speed up the healing process.

For medicinal purposes

Water from rose petals is used not only for cosmetic purposes, but also as a healing solution for various ailments.

To prevent periodontal disease, it is recommended to use water as a daily mouth rinse.

  • problematic skin (rubbing);
  • itching of the scalp (rubbing in hydrosol);

  • fatigue, nervous tension (baths with added hydrolate).

Making rose water yourself at home

Rose water is sold in pharmacies, on medical portals on the Internet, and on grocery store shelves. Sometimes the quality of rose hydrosol does not meet the requirements: careless manufacturers add synthetic products and preservatives to the water. To ensure that the water quality meets standard standards, you can prepare rose water at home. It is recommended to use roses from your own garden plot or rosehip buds.

Option #1

Wash the flower petals and dry naturally (put the buds on gauze). Place the petals in an enamel container and fill with water. After the liquid boils, reduce the heat to low; simmer the rose petals for 40 minutes. Squeeze the pink mixture through cheesecloth into a sterile glass container with a lid.

Water should be stored in a cool, dark place.

Option No. 2

Prepare a wide enamel container, rose petals, a cup, a glass lid for the container, and ice cubes. Place the petals in a container so that the roses reach halfway into the pan. Fill the flowers with water to exactly half the container. Place a high-sided cup in the center of the pan so that water does not get inside. Place the pan on the fire. Turn the glass cover over. As the water boils, reduce the heat. Place a few ice cubes on the lid. When the cup is filled with condensation (rose water), pour the liquid into a sterile bottle with a stopper.

Use in cooking

Since ancient times, in Asia and the Middle East, fragrant water from rose flowers has been used in cooking. It was added to dishes to add flavor. To experiment in the kitchen, it's best to purchase this delicious ingredient from Asian spice stores or make your own rose water from rose petals. The aromatic liquid will add a delicate aroma to coffee and chocolate; it can be added to Turkish delight or ice cream, combined with cardamom. The main thing is to know when to stop so that the dessert does not smell like strong perfume.
