How to make a rice face mask at home

Even in ancient times, rice was very popular not only in cooking, but also in cosmetology. Asian beauties actively used rice face masks and were famous throughout the world for their unusually snow-white and well-groomed skin.

A rice face mask can rejuvenate, brighten the skin, eliminate acne, restore tone and give the skin radiance. In cosmetology, rice flour and plant flowers are used. These components are included in anti-aging creams, care products for problem skin, rejuvenating and corrective face masks. You can also prepare a rice mask at home, which you can read about in detail below.

Cosmetic qualities of rice

Rice is high in B vitamins

Speaking about rice masks, it is worth mentioning that such masks help clean out pores, remove wrinkles and make the skin fairer. Rice cereal contains starch (makes the skin soft and whitens it), fiber, polysaccharides (moisturizes, gives softness and elasticity to the skin).

Rice has a high content of B vitamins, among which the most beneficial for the skin are B4 and folic acid. What properties do they have? They make the skin softer and also smooth out wrinkles. Folic acid is especially useful. It eliminates skin irritation, blocks the formation of acne and pimples.

Tocopherol has unique properties. This vitamin prolongs the youthfulness of the skin. Rice is also rich in macro- and microelements.

The key substances in rice are amino acids. In modern cosmetology they are used to rejuvenate the skin. The well-known amino acid gluten, a causative agent of allergies, is not found in rice, which means that a mask made from rice flour is also suitable for those women who use exclusively hypoallergenic cosmetics.

Due to polysaccharides and amino acids, the rice mask acts on the skin like natural collagen. Thus, in terms of effectiveness, a rice flour mask can be compared to a gelatin mask.

How to apply a rice mask to your face

A lot depends on how to apply the mask correctly.
It is for this reason that this information should be given maximum attention. Instructions for applying the mask:

  • First of all, it is worth noting that it is better to apply any mask to previously prepared skin. First you need to remove all dead particles from your face. In this case, an ordinary scrub will help. It can be store-bought or prepared at home, the main thing is to achieve the desired effect - to cleanse the superficial pores and get rid of dead skin particles.
  • Additionally, women with very sensitive skin can pre-moisturize it to avoid harm from coarse particles. This is especially true for those with combination and dry skin types.
  • After these procedures, you can apply the mask to the skin. Distribute the mixture with your hands or a special brush.

How to get the most benefit from a mask?

  1. The main component of a rice mask is rice flour. The cereal should be crushed to a fine state. Coarse grinding is not suitable for a mask, since the beneficial components will not be absorbed well, and instead of a mask, you will get a scrub.
  2. To prepare rice flour, the rice must be selected without grinding. Unprocessed grain retains more nutrients. You can refine the rice yourself in a coffee grinder or blender.
  3. Before using the mask, prepare your skin by steaming it over a bath.
  4. The duration of application of the mask takes 20-30 minutes; in a shorter period of time it will only be partially effective.
  5. The frequency of the procedure should be at least once a week. If you intend to treat the skin with a mask, then it is advisable to use it at least 10-15 times.

Cosmetics recipes

When making rice-based masks, scrubs and peels, it is important to consider your skin type. The choice of additional components will depend on it.

Rejuvenating mask made from rice flour and honey for dry skin

Ingredients:

  • rice flour - 2 tbsp. l;
  • honey - 1 tsp;
  • almond oil - 2 tsp;
  • sour cream or cream - 2 tsp.

Grind honey with butter until smooth, add rice flour and stir. Dilute the mixture with cream until thick and creamy.

Apply the mask to a cleansed face and leave for 15–20 minutes until completely dry, then rinse with warm water.

This mask not only smoothes out fine wrinkles and nourishes the skin well, it has a brightening effect. The result will be noticeable after a month of regular use every 3 days.

Anti-wrinkle mask for oily skin made from boiled rice

Ingredients:

  • boiled rice - 3 tbsp. l;
  • milk - 1 tbsp. l;
  • honey - 1 tbsp. l.

For this mask, it is better to soak the rice overnight and only then boil it. Mix warm rice with honey, and then grind the mixture through a sieve. To simplify the process, you can use a blender. Dilute the resulting homogeneous mass with milk and apply to the face with a brush.

Take a horizontal position and hold the mask for 20–30 minutes.

After half an hour, wash off the mask with warm water or rice water, and then rinse your face with cool water. If necessary, you can additionally apply a light moisturizer.

When cooked, the starch found in rice turns into an active form and stimulates the production of collagen, and honey helps the beneficial components penetrate deep into the epidermis. To prevent the appearance of facial wrinkles, it is enough to apply such a mask 3-4 times a month. If the first wrinkles have already appeared, a healing course of 10 masks is carried out with an interval of 2-3 days.

The ingredients of a rice mask vary depending on your skin type. For dry skin, it is recommended to add heavy cream or sour cream instead of milk, since rice has a pronounced drying effect.

  • finely ground rice flour - 2 tbsp. l;
  • milk - 3 tbsp. l.

Wash your face with warm water, and after 10 minutes apply nourishing cream.

Chinese mask from Olga Seymour

Ingredients:

  • rice bran - 1 tbsp. l;
  • cream - 1 tbsp. l.

Mix rice bran with warm cream until smooth. Apply the prepared mask in a thick layer to cleansed facial skin for 20 minutes.

For a greater tonic effect, the mask should be washed off with mineral water and the skin should be allowed to dry naturally. After 15 minutes, you can apply a cream suitable for your skin type.

A rice bran mask cleanses the skin well, tightens pores, and has an anti-inflammatory and light smoothing effect. To maintain skin tone, it is enough to perform the procedure 1-2 times a week. For acne or a tendency to inflammation, it is recommended to do a course of 8-10 masks every 2 days.

Olga Seymour improved the recipe for a Chinese rice mask by adding aspirin tablets and ascorbic acid. These components activate regeneration processes in the epidermis and tone the facial skin.

Purifying mask for blackheads

Ingredients:

  • round polished rice - 2 tbsp. l;
  • water - 100 ml.

Pour thoroughly washed rice with warm water and leave overnight. Drain off any unabsorbed liquid and mash the rice with a fork. Apply to face with massage movements. After 10 minutes, when the mask has dried, wash your face with warm or mineral water.

This mask cleanses and visibly tightens pores, mattifies the skin and makes it smooth.

How to properly prepare rice water

Rice water is no less beneficial for the skin than the grains themselves. When rice is cooked, all useful microelements, vitamins, and starch get into the water. The liquid remaining after cooking gently cleanses, dries and brightens the skin.

To prepare rice water, 100 g of washed, polished rice is poured with 2 liters of filtered water and cooked in an enamel bowl over low heat, stirring so that the grain does not stick to the bottom. When the rice becomes soft, strain the liquid into a glass container. The decoction is used for washing, and is also added to brightening and rejuvenating masks.

The cooled “potion” can be poured into ice trays and frozen. This ice is convenient to use for wiping the face: it tones the skin well, gives it a fresh look, and reduces swelling. You can store the homemade decoction for no more than three days.

The prepared rice water should be stored in the refrigerator in a glass container with a tight-fitting lid. The shelf life of homemade rice water is three days.

Rice water

Rice water, unlike broth, is not subject to heat treatment. Its main rejuvenating and tonic properties lie in special enzymes formed during the fermentation of rice.

The rice is washed and filled with clean, or preferably mineral, water in a ratio of 1:4. The soaked rice is left in a warm, well-ventilated room for a day.

Experts recommend using a glass or unglazed clay container for soaking rice.

When the rice has fermented, you need to pour the liquid into a separate container and leave it warm for another day. Ready rice water is used as a facial tonic.

Water should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 3 days.

The leftover rice from making fermented water can be used to make a scrub.

Scrub

Ingredients:

  • rice flour - 1 tbsp. l;
  • water - 2 tbsp. l;
  • cosmetic oil (peach or grape seed) - 1/4 tsp.

To prepare rice scrub, you need to mix flour with cold water until smooth. Add oil to the mixture and carefully place again. The scrub is applied to damp facial skin using circular movements along massage lines. After the scrub dries a little, wash your face with warm water, making repeated circular movements. Then the clean face is rinsed with cold water, and after 10 minutes a moisturizer is applied.

Rice scrub gently cleanses and tightens pores, evens out and makes the skin smooth to the touch.

Rice flour scrub is perfect not only for the face, but also for the body. To do this, you just need to add shower gel to the finished rice scrub.

Peeling

Ingredients:

  • rice flour - 1 tbsp. l;
  • apricot kernel oil - 1 tsp;
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp;

To prepare rice peeling at home, you need to mix all the ingredients in the specified proportions. The resulting mass is applied to the face, avoiding the area around the eyes. Keep the mask on for 4-5 minutes, then wash off with water. After peeling, the facial skin should be moisturized with cream.

It is not recommended to use peeling with lemon (including those based on rice flour) for severe allergic reactions, acne, scars

This peeling cleanses the skin well due to the action of fruit acids. However, such a procedure is contraindicated in case of acne, the likelihood of allergic reactions, or the presence of scars.
