Redness coupled with itching and swelling from Baziron AS gel

Today it is one of the most popular remedies for the treatment of acne.

Baziron (aka benzoyl peroxide) is an excellent antibacterial, anti-inflammatory external agent. Active against Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis. It is also an excellent keratolytic agent that works by reducing the oiliness of the skin, which prevents the occurrence of comeds. The drug is perfectly absorbed, only in very rare cases leaving a white coating or streaks on the skin.

  • Do not use the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Description of the properties of the gel

Baziron AS has a number of useful properties: anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, improves oxygenation, slows down the formation of sebum in the sebaceous glands. This is the reason that this product is widely used in cosmetic procedures. The drug helps well with pimples, acne and some other dermatological pathologies.

A burn from Baziron is provoked by its composition, which, like similar medications, has two unpleasant aspects. Firstly, there is a high probability of an allergic reaction. Secondly, severe drying of the skin.

This product includes the following reagents:

  • Benzoyl peroxide;
  • Propylene glycol;
  • Poloxamer 182;
  • Colloidal silicon (anhydrous);
  • Edetate disodium;
  • Glycerol;
  • Carbomer 940.

Symptoms and treatment

Most of those who have encountered negative side effects of Baziron AS note the following symptoms:

  • redness of the skin at the sites where the drug was applied, and this is not a slight redness, but a very bright color that only goes away within a few weeks;
  • dry skin - most often associated with incorrect concentration of the product applied to it, that is, by drying out acne and other manifestations of malfunction of the sebaceous glands, Baziron AS simply “overdid it”;
  • peeling of the skin - many note that if you are allergic to Baziron, the top layer of the epidermis simply begins to crumble;
  • swelling is a common manifestation of an allergic reaction; swelling under the eyes often occurs;
  • allergic dermatitis - manifested not only by redness of the skin, but also by more serious symptoms in the form of the formation of blisters on the skin with a clear liquid inside.

If during use of the product at least one of the above symptoms occurs, this indicates that Baziron AS cream is not suitable for you due to hypersensitivity to its components.

It is necessary to stop using it as soon as possible, begin symptomatic treatment of allergies, take antihistamines (Zyrtec, Claritin, Erius, etc.), and solve skin problems using more suitable and safe means.

Before the skin symptoms of allergies go away, it is necessary to take care of the skin using gentle products: micellar water, products with dexpanthenol.

What is the cause of painful symptoms?

Burns on the face from Baziron are an extremely unpleasant event. If you have this reaction, it could be due to one of the following:

  • Allergy. This is the most common cause of swelling, redness, itching, and rashes. In this case, it is enough to take Suprastin, Diazolin, Psilo-Balm, Hydrocortisone ointment or their analogues, and stop using the drug. But in order to avoid dealing with the unpleasant symptoms of an individual reaction, do an appropriate check before applying to the problem area. Apply the cream to the bend of your elbow and if allergic symptoms do not appear, begin therapy;
  • Dry skin. Many people underestimate this problem when using cosmetics. The drug includes elements that have an active drying property, it helps and is necessary, but in the recommended dose. The situation is complicated, for the most part, by ignoring the instructions. To prevent burns from Baziron at the beginning of therapy, the product is applied pointwise; there is no need to generously lubricate the skin. Further, it is necessary to strictly observe the amount of gel applied and the frequency of procedures;
  • Combined treatment. If you followed the rules of use, dosage and other recommendations, there is still a chance of getting a burn from Baziron. During therapy, it is better to avoid various creams, tonics, masks, especially alcohol-based ones. Even if individually they do not pose any threat, when combined they can cause significant side effects;
  • Exposure to direct sunlight;
  • Drug concentration. Sometimes it is recommended to dilute the ointment with water, but it is better to check this point with a dermatologist.

What can replace Baziron AC?

If you are allergic to Baziron AS cream, then you can try its analogues, which contain exactly the same active ingredient:

  1. Proderm;
  2. Eclaran;
  3. Desquam.

If the allergic reaction is associated specifically with benzoyl peroxide (the active ingredient of these creams), then it is necessary to choose drugs that do not contain it. For example, OK skin care products.

Despite the fact that many plants are allergens, using traditional skin care methods often helps to cope with acne or acne.

  1. For example, a decoction of chamomile or green tea has worked well, which can be used in the form of lotions or wiped on the face with cotton swabs soaked in the decoction.
  2. You can also freeze herbal infusions and wipe your face with the resulting ice cubes.
  3. A decoction of calendula flowers also helps well, which can be used in the above ways.
  4. Every pharmacy has an affordable and cheap product - calendula tincture. This drug contains alcohol, so it should be used with caution to treat skin problems, but it disinfects the epidermis well and dries out acne.

Burn from Baziron, what to do?

This question interests victims much more than the cause of the painful condition. However, this is precisely where the answer lies; how to get rid of the problem depends entirely on the factor that caused it.

  • If you observe allergy symptoms (rash, hives, redness, swelling, itching), immediately stop using the medication. And use the antihistamine drug Fenistil, Sinaflan, Gistan.
  • If burns on the face from Baziron are accompanied only by burning and peeling, and you observe redness, pay attention to the following recommendations:
  • During therapy, use a neutral, moisturizing cream. A pharmacist in any pharmacy or a cosmetologist will help you choose it. Apply not immediately after Baziron, but after 25-30 minutes. La-Cri chamomile cream will show high results; it will soothe, moisturize, and restore the skin;
  • Anti-burn medications should be used directly to eliminate redness. In the classification, this is a weak injury of the first degree, so, for example, Panthenol is perfect. Apply it to the problem area 2-4 times a day in a layer of 0.5-1 cm. Unpleasant symptoms will subside within 2-5 days.

A burn from Baziron is not uncommon, because many people misclassify it. This is not cosmetics, but a full-fledged medicine, so you must follow the instructions very strictly. It is better to consult a doctor first. The same should be done if you were unable to improve your condition if side effects occurred within 2-3 days.

FAQ

1. In what form can benzoyl peroxide (BP) be purchased?

In Russia, it is sold in pharmacies only in the form of a gel - Baziron 5%; in Ukraine you can find Ugresol 10% lotion.

2. What degree is it suitable for?

As a rule, the product is used for any severity of acne. If you have a mild degree, then you should use this remedy locally on the lesions (pointwise), since the remedy is quite aggressive. For moderate and severe acne, as a rule, it is prescribed to the entire affected area, or locally, but in combination with another drug.

3. What do the letters AC at the end of the drug name mean?

AC is a hydrophilic ointment base called an acrylic copolymer - it makes it possible to absorb the drug more quickly, which increases its therapeutic effect. The advantages of AS are that the drug has:

  • high bioavailability, penetration into skin cells,
  • can be easily washed off with water, thereby removing it from the application site,
  • dries quickly without leaving stains,
  • the ability to absorb sebum, thereby controlling its amount.

B. also contains glycerin, which is designed to soften the aggressive effects of BP, but, as a rule, its amount is negligible, which does not cope with this task.

4. Why is Benzoyl Peroxide so good?

BP is much more effective than any other antibiotics special for the treatment of acne, since it produces oxygen, in the presence of which acne cannot grow, and they never develop immunity.

5. What side effects may there be?

Most often, B. causes peeling from moderate to very strong; hyperemia, redness, swelling, dryness; allergic reaction, in this case the drug should be abandoned. B. can also discolor hair, be careful.

6. Method of administration and dose?

B. is used externally (avoid contact with the eyes, lips and mouth), cleanse thoroughly with a cleanser, let the skin dry, and only then apply locally/spot on comedones 1-2 times a day. If you are using it on the entire affected surface of the skin, then apply a small amount of BP to cleansed, dried skin and gently rub in, patting or smearing it over the face until absorbed.

Avoid anything that may irritate your skin (such as abrasive soaps and scrubs, products containing alcohol, medicated cosmetics, sunlight and UV lamps). It may take 4-6 weeks for treatment effects to become visible. If acne does not go away after this time, consult a dermatologist.

7. Is it possible to continue using B. for a long time? What does this mean? Will it be addictive?

B. produces oxygen, in the presence of which acne cannot grow, so they never develop immunity to PD.

Dermatotropic products GALDERMA Baziron AS - reviews

A big, big hello to everyone!

I started preparing this review a long time ago, slowly adding my thoughts, and finally the review is complete. In it I wanted to talk about what changed my skin and how I generally care for it. The review will contain a lot of lyrical digressions and unnecessary water, but this is the only way I can convey and tell you the story of my skin, what happened to it. My fellow soldiers will probably like this review, those who know first-hand what pimples, blackheads and oily sheen are.

I’ll say right away that I have problem skin, the problems are pimples, blackheads, and of course, oily sheen bothers me.

_______

Let's start with some background. In general, why did I get acne, how did I “fight” it at first.

My dad had problem skin, so I think heredity played a role. Yes, yes, I want to immediately anticipate questions about the need to go to the doctors. I took all the tests, everything was normal, but I didn’t go to the cosmetologist on purpose.

My first small problems started back in 7th grade, at that time pimples didn’t pop up very quickly, there were no more than 5 of them on my face, they were small, so I didn’t worry about it at all. I always had pimples on the wings of my nose, this is actually some kind of erogenous zone, I always had them there. And at the end of 7th grade (I remember it like yesterday) 3 subcutaneous pimples appeared on my forehead, for the first 2 days I didn’t worry, I applied salicylic acid a couple of times and hoped that they would go away soon. There was no need to touch them, but I climbed towards them with my childish hands. In general, I tried to squeeze it out, but it got even worse. They became huge, blue and red. It was creepy, it was really creepy, I can’t say anything more.

A week later, when these three heroes barely disappeared from the skin, in the center of the forehead, approximately near these subcutaneous pimples, new small, small pimples began to appear, which were not squeezed out and did not go away. I didn’t understand at all what was happening to my skin, I gave up, but not for long, then again I ran to the store for new gels and creams for acne.

I clearly remember this particular period, it was probably 3-4 months, it was terrible. By the way, my mother, who had never encountered such problems in her life, said that there is no need to dry out the skin, you need to wash your face regularly and not crush acne.

I washed my face consistently, morning and evening, but I still liked to suppress the pimples. Time passed, and my skin remained in this state.

Over time, I began to read more and more articles on the Internet about problem skin, completely changed my approach to it, abandoned strong gels for washing, and began making homemade masks.

!!!

Over the past year, the condition of my skin has varied, sometimes it was clear, only small black dots remained, and sometimes it broke out again... Rashes appeared on the wings of the nose and on the forehead, there were no problems anywhere else.

And now what not to do if you have rashes. I made these mistakes too often, I had to pay for them.

So let's start the anti-rating

  • First of all, you need to stop squeezing your pimples! Yes, it’s very difficult, I’m a fan of squeezing pimples, but I tested it on myself that after a squeezed pimple a new one will definitely form, and this is regardless of the fact that I always cauterized the squeezed pimples.
  • Secondly, you don’t need to dry out your skin! Due to the fact that we dry out the skin, it, in turn, secretes more and more sebum, and for us this is the main cause of acne. Oily shine + germs = acne. At one time I dried out my skin, be healthy.
  • Thirdly, you need to choose your cream well, again you may come across one that can dry out the skin (yes, this can happen), or, on the contrary, over-moisturize the skin, in this case clogged pores and new acne are guaranteed. I would advise choosing non-greasy, light creams for problem skin.
  • Also, at one time I was very friendly with facial scrubs and other exfoliating products. But for problem skin, such products are prohibited; they irritate the skin, scratch it, and rashes may recur.
  • And, of course, cleansing. It’s also easy to go overboard with this matter. As I already said, I regularly washed my face in the morning and evening with a cleansing gel, but now it’s completely different. In the morning I wash my face with regular running water! I rinse for 10-15 seconds over warm water, and at the end of washing with a little cool water, and I do not use any “washing” products! In the evening I already use my “washing” gadgets.

And now a few words about what products I use at the moment. In fact, skin care nowadays is one of the easiest and simplest, now my skin is more or less in normal condition, I don’t overload it too much.

In the evening I use Tea Tree soap from Spivak; there is also tar soap from the same company, I use both of them, alternating.

I like the mattifying lotion from Green Mama, it helps support the skin well, I also use Ylang-Ylang flower water as a lotion. I don’t apply lotions in the evening; I only use them in the morning.

I use the one responsible for the review as a cream. Locally, I use tea tree essential oil and salicylic-zinc ointment on the pimple.

Don't forget to make masks, they are great for problem skin. I love masks made from various clays, I use store-bought and homemade ones.

In general, that's all

_____________

What prompted me to buy this product?

I read the reviews on the site, but I honestly admit that I was afraid to buy it myself; something always stopped me. I was just always afraid of how my skin would react, what if it got crusty or something like that...

If I hadn’t met a friend who also suffered from acne, she began to talk about a miraculous cream that can remove acne in 1 week. Honestly, it was her words that made an impression on me, and now I’m already at the pharmacy asking about this cream. That’s all the cream is on my hands, I was rather waiting for the evening to quickly apply it to my face.

About the price

My first thought was something like this: “Spending about 600 rubles for a small tube of cream?”

But if you think about it a little, how much money we spent on products from Clearasil, Garnier, L'Oreal, Clean & Clear, if you add all this up to the total amount, it turns out to be a pretty penny much more than the price of this tube. Therefore, I think that it is better to buy such a tube once, and not waste money on crazy purchases.

Compound:

Benzoyl peroxide aqueous, methacrylic acid copolymer, poloxamer 182, carbomer 940 (carbopol 980), glycerin, disodium edetate, sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate, propylene glycol, colloidal anhydrous silicon, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

ATTENTION! About how to apply the cream.

It’s good that I read a lot of articles, and the girls said that this cream cannot be combined with products containing alcohol. That is, be careful, the lotions you use or other products may contain salicylic acid.

And one more little point that should not be forgotten. We often go to see results quickly, but please be careful with this cream! Apply VERY, VERY

thin layer! It is very important!

Technical aspects.

Baziron is in a small plastic tube of 40 ml. The packaging is small, the dispenser is not too wide.

I paid 518 rubles for this gel, I bought it at the cheapest pharmacy in our city, the price goes beyond 600 rubles.

The gel itself is white, not greasy and not too dense. It does not have a strong smell.

It is applied to the skin easily and quickly, absorbed within seconds, after application it makes the skin matte, covering the skin with a sort of thin layer of white coating. If you look closely, you can see the boundaries of application, but I only use it in the evening, so there is no problem for me.

Well, now let's look at the effectiveness of this product.

Photo March 23

.Here you see what happened to the skin. Small pimples on the forehead.

Photo March 30.

Minor inflammations have gone away, the skin has noticeably smoothed out.

Photo April 6.

The skin, although not perfect, is much better than the “before” photo

There are no concealers on the skin, nor the hands of Photoshop...

I used this cream for exactly 2 weeks, now I want to give it a break, wean myself off this cream a little and see what happens next.

The result is not long in coming. I am very pleased! It's only been 2 weeks and pimples don't bother me anymore. This cream also works well on blackheads! He generally has a short conversation with acne - they go away within 1 day. It does not allow them to develop any more, they dry out and go away, no stains remain. During these 2 weeks of use, there were only a couple of new pimples, they were not significant and went away quickly.

It fights small rashes for one day, they go away and no trace remains. I liked that it draws out subcutaneous pimples well and does not leave scars or blemishes.

Notes.

The first time I applied a pea-sized amount of gel to my skin, I managed to apply it all over my face at once. I woke up the next day and everything was fine, but after washing my face my skin started to turn red. I walked like this all day

The second application was no longer so painful; the skin got used to the gel. But I applied so little gel that it’s even funny. Used only on problem areas.

Thank you everyone! This review turned out to be a little boring, but I wanted to tell you about a product that saves me 100%

Therapy methods

If, after treatment, burns on the face from Baziron still appear, it is necessary to take immediate action. For this it is recommended:

  1. Peeling and burning of the skin. With such symptoms, it is necessary to smear your face with moisturizer. You should consult a cosmetologist or dermatologist about the choice of product. The cream should be applied half an hour after using Baziron. Applying a moisturizer will soothe and restore irritated skin.
  2. Hives. If you experience symptoms of rash and redness, you should immediately stop using the ointment and take an antihistamine. You can use Fenistil, Gistan or Sinaflan.
  3. Facial burns from Baziron . Anti-burn medications should be used to restore the skin. Treatment can be carried out using Panthenol. The drug must be applied to damaged facial skin three times a day. Signs of irritation will subside within a few days with regular application of the anti-burn agent.

A negative reaction from the use of Baziron is a fairly common occurrence. Therefore, before using the product, it is recommended to discuss all aspects with your doctor. Many people consider the drug to be a cosmetic product, but this is not so. This is a medicine for acne, so you should strictly follow the instructions.

The main advantages of the gel:

  • is not an antibiotic;
  • destroys almost all microbes during a one-week course of use;
  • reduces sebum secretion;
  • not addictive.

The drug can be used daily. The main thing is not to cause facial burns. When the first signs of redness and itching appear, attention should be paid to restoring the skin.

Redness coupled with itching and swelling from Baziron AS gel

Good afternoon Please help me. I applied Baziron AS to my facial skin for 5 days. First, I applied a thin layer to the T-zone (3 days), and then for a couple of days directly on the pimples (mainly on the chin). After that, the skin on my chin and between my eyebrows turned red, these places itched. I didn’t use Baziron anymore, nor did I use any other care products. I lubricate the redness with Aloe Vera moisturizer and panthenol. I've been applying them for 2 days, but it's getting worse. The redness spread further across the face, became crusty, and swelling appeared on the chin. Please help, tell me what to do.

What you are describing sounds very similar to allergic contact dermatitis. Redness, coupled with itching and swelling, is a typical manifestation of an allergy. Crusts could form after using panthenol.

Redness and swelling are the first signs of allergic dermatitis

Baziron AS contains benzoyl peroxide, a substance found in many antiseptics (Oxy 5, Oxy 10, Eclaran and others). If, along with Baziron AS, you use a similar drug, for example in the form of a lotion, then the risk of an allergic reaction increases. Combining the gel with a moisturizer could also increase the irritating effect. If additional moisturizing is needed (dry, flaky skin), then you should choose a hypoallergenic cream or gel, preferably from the range of pharmacy cosmetics.

Baziron AS is available in three concentrations: 2.5, 5 and 10%. Treatment usually begins with 2.5 - 5% gel

If you are prone to allergies, you can do a test - apply a drop of Baziron AS to the inside of your wrist or elbow and leave overnight. Even if such a test does not cause redness, treatment of acne should begin with a drug of lower concentration - Baziron AC 2.5 or 5%. It is better to apply the gel in the evening for 2-3 hours, if the skin is sensitive, then for 15-60 minutes. During treatment, creams with SPF protection should be used, since benzoyl peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent and ultraviolet radiation can increase skin irritation.

It is more convenient to perform an allergy test on the inside of the elbow.

To relieve the symptoms of allergic contact dermatitis, you can use glucocorticoid ointments (sinalar, flucinar, celestoderm, hydrocortisone). Panthenol is unlikely to help - it is an anti-burn agent. In addition, it can also provoke an allergic reaction. Carrying out differential diagnosis and prescribing individual therapy is possible during a face-to-face consultation with a dermatologist.
