How skin condition changes over time
Aging is a process determined by the structure of our body. All living organisms are born, grow up, give birth, grow old and die. However, it should be noted that everyone ages differently. Some people look young even at 40 years old, while others already have deep wrinkles at 28 years old. It’s just that nature gives someone the chance to be young for a long time, but takes it away from someone.
However, for most people, aging begins according to a standard pattern. And this process starts at the age of 25, when maturity sets in. How is this period characterized? The production of your own hyaluronate decreases, dryness of the epidermis is observed, which leads to the appearance of wrinkles, creases and folds.
Then, after age 35, the epidermis thickens, becoming uneven, rough and rough. At the age of 45, the skin loses its elasticity and firmness because the proteins of youth: collagen and elastin are not produced in sufficient quantities. As a result, the oval of the face and nasolabial folds droop, sagging, wrinkles and age spots appear. All stages of aging gradually replace each other until the skin fades completely.
What are anti-aging cosmetics
Despite the modern development of science and technology, there are still no means that could turn back time and rejuvenate the body. However, there is still significant success in this field. Modern cosmetic products can improve the condition of the skin, make it fresh, smooth, clean and restore a good complexion.
Anti-aging cosmetics can prevent the appearance of new facial wrinkles without eliminating those that are already present. The goal of ati-age products is to maintain skin condition for as long as possible at the level at which a woman turned to effective cosmetics.
Modern manufacturers of cosmetics confidently promise the complete elimination of existing wrinkles, which is pure deceit. However, it should be noted that such cosmetics still guarantee some effect. But only under one condition, if cosmetic products are used regularly. If you stop using it, the wrinkles will return immediately.
Anti-aging cosmetics are not recommended for use before the age of 25. If wrinkles appeared before this age due to an unhealthy lifestyle, then it is necessary to use moisturizing and nourishing preparations to avoid the appearance of new wrinkles.
What problems should the ati-age product solve? After all, it is much easier to prevent the appearance of new folds and creases than to eliminate old ones. Therefore, a high-quality anti-aging product should have the following characteristics:
- do not cause allergies;
- quickly penetrate through pores;
- do not leave behind a greasy film;
- do not overload the skin and pores;
- have a neutral pleasant odor.
How do anti-aging creams work?
Every woman who dreams of prolonging her youth and beauty is ready to make great sacrifices and financial losses. All anti-aging cosmetics are not a cheap pleasure, but we are ready to spend any amount when we are promised eternal youth. Marketers and advertisers cleverly take advantage of this, because they are generous with their promises. But are anti-aging creams really effective? What components should be included in such a cream?
- First of all, moisturizers, hyaluronic acid most often acts in this capacity. It saturates the epidermis with moisture, smoothes it, makes it smooth, and prevents the appearance of new wrinkles.
- Vitamin A is an essential component of anti-age products. Retinoid creams are designed to improve skin texture through exfoliation.
- AHA and BHA acids make the skin smooth and even, give it freshness and improve complexion.
- Antioxidants are designed to neutralize the action of free radicals, which trigger the process of withering of the skin.
But how well do the ingredients in such a cream work?
You can immediately answer that they work. However, it is not nearly as good as we would like it to be. Let's look at how the ingredients in the anti-aging composition actually work.
Moisturized skin looks younger
All anti-age products contain many moisturizing ingredients. After all, moisturized skin looks smooth, even and taut, which means that small wrinkles are smoothed out and large ones become less noticeable. The skin is refreshed, becomes firm and elastic. However, this effect is temporary and after some time everything returns to normal. That is, with regular use of a moisturizer, this effect is not difficult to achieve, but if you stop using it, the skin condition will worsen.
Creams with retinoids can prevent the development of wrinkles
This ingredient can really eliminate wrinkles, but not all of them. Vitamin A only temporarily delays their development and reduces their visual appearance. Retinoids exfoliate the skin, neutralize the harmful effects of free radicals, prevent collagen degradation and even promote its synthesis. But here we cannot help but add a fly in the ointment - this ingredient only slightly prevents skin aging, but does not rejuvenate it in any way. In order for such cosmetics to give a good result, they must be used regularly; as soon as the effect of the cream is suspended, the skin will immediately return to its previous state.
Antioxidants block the negative effects of the environment on the skin
Since free radicals are considered to be the culprits of skin aging, antioxidants are designed to neutralize their effects. They can prevent the appearance of new wrinkles, but the old ones will not go away. Therefore, antioxidants are necessary in anti-age products, but they do not rejuvenate the skin.
BHA and AHA acids make the skin even and smooth
Lactic and glycolic acids (AHA), as well as salicylic acid (BHA), are famous for their ability to exfoliate the skin. By eliminating dead scales from the surface of the skin, the structure of the skin improves, the number of wrinkles decreases and the complexion improves. After exfoliation, the skin is transformed, but it cannot be said that it has become rejuvenated, since this has not happened.
Collagen and placenta as active components
Placenta extract in the anti-aging cream nourishes the skin, evens it out, and reduces age spots. Steroid hormones penetrate the skin and rejuvenate it. An extract is obtained from animal placenta. It stimulates cell division and removes aging-causing keratin. Placental cells in cosmetics help awaken the hidden reserves of the skin, restore cell functions, smooth out wrinkles, and slow down the aging process of the skin.
Collagen is the main protein of connective tissue. It tightens the skin and is responsible for its smoothness and elasticity. Collagen comes in the following types:
- animal - the easiest to obtain, but its use in cosmetics is impractical. Its molecule is too large and cannot penetrate our skin, so it has a smoothing effect only on the surface;
- collagen from plant proteins - well absorbed by the skin, extracted mainly from wheat germ;
- Marine collagen is extracted from fish skin and is closest in composition to human collagen.
The most valued creams are those containing marine collagen.
How to choose anti-aging cosmetics
To choose the best anti-aging series you need to adhere to the following recommendations:
- Be sure to pay attention to its composition. Such products should include the above components, as well as sunscreen filters, since it is ultraviolet radiation that promotes photoaging, which then turns into chronoaging.
- Select cosmetics according to your skin type. If in youth dry skin looks clean and soft, then over time it is on it that the first signs of withering appear. As a result, it becomes even drier and also dehydrated. Such skin lacks not so much water as lipids. And the task of anti-aging drugs is to solve this problem.
- Anti-aging preparations must contain moisturizing components. They will qualitatively saturate the epidermis with moisture and retain it inside the cells.
- Anti-aging cream should exfoliate the stratum corneum of the epidermis. This is an important condition for preserving the youth and beauty of the skin.
- Anti-aging products must be age appropriate. After all, at 30, 40 or 50 years old, the skin needs different care. The composition of creams, their ingredients and effects also differ. If your skin condition suddenly changes and you look older, do not rush to purchase a cream for more mature skin. This can only harm her. Therefore, drugs should be clearly differentiated by age labeling.
- Alternation in time. Experts advise purchasing two wrinkle creams: day and night. The daytime product protects the skin from the negative effects of the environment (it contains sunscreen filters), and at night it restores and moisturizes the epidermis.
- An integrated approach is needed. Those women who buy entire anti-aging lines of one brand, which contain a set of cleansers, as well as nutritional and moisturizing preparations, do the right thing.
- A high price is not at all an indicator of quality. Manufacturers and advertisers have carefully studied the preferences of consumers and learned to produce and advertise their products in such a way that the latter will be tempted to buy and buy their products. But a high price and beautiful packaging are not a guarantee of quality. Therefore, be careful, do not be deceived.
Anti-aging facial skin care: when and what to use
Anti-aging care raises many questions. What happens to the skin over time and at what age should you start using anti-aging cosmetics? What is the difference between creams marked 30+ from creams 45+ and is it dangerous to use anti-age products at 20 years of age? We asked Eisenberg Paris brand expert Natalia Trognon about everything.

I Anti-aging care: the most important
Age-related facial changes: when they appear and in what order
Aging of facial skin depends on many factors: lifestyle, heredity, bone structure of the skull, peculiarities of muscle attachment and even ethnicity. But in general, this process occurs approximately in this sequence.
Fine wrinkles appear first (around 25 years). They occur in the places of the most active action of the facial muscles: the eyes, the space between the eyebrows, the nasolabial fold and the forehead. Most often, the first expression lines appear in the eye area, where the skin is very thin. They are also called "crow's feet". With age, these and other expression lines will become deeper and more noticeable.
The aging of the body itself begins with a slowdown in intracellular processes, and first of all, with a disruption of the processes of oxidation and reduction in the Krebs cycle (the key stage of respiration of all cells). This leads to the formation of free radicals, cell damage, decreased collagen synthesis and elastin destruction. This results in the following signs of aging: uneven skin tone and more visible wrinkles. This usually happens around age 40.
Next, changes begin in the deeper layers of the skin. The dermo-epidermal junction is destroyed: the border of the dermis and epidermis is straightened, which in the normal state forms a wavy line of a complex shape. Because of this, the skin becomes more flabby, the oval of the face loses its contour, the eyelids and corners of the lips droop.
One of the accompanying signs of skin aging is pigmentation. One of its main reasons is the influence of ultraviolet rays, due to which an increased amount of skin pigment, melanin, is produced, and the body’s inability to cope with them as before (by the way, we discussed this issue in more detail here). This is why it is important to always protect your skin from sun damage.
At what age can you take
anti-age products?
Active aging of the body (including facial skin) begins at 25 years of age. This does not mean that wrinkles, pigmentation and other signs will appear immediately after your twenty-fifth birthday. But still, already at this age, it is advisable to take a closer look at products containing antioxidants and substances that prevent the loss of hyaluronic acid - it is part of connective tissue and regulates the water balance of the skin. Later, you can add cosmetics with components that prevent the destruction of elastin, stimulate collagen synthesis, etc.
But we must understand that skin aging is an individual process that also depends on other factors: heredity, lifestyle, environment, etc. Therefore, you should not focus only on age. It is better to look at the general condition and specific needs of the skin.
Is it possible to use anti-aging cosmetics before the age of 25?
If a girl or guy of 20 years old uses a face cream intended, for example, for skin 50+, then nothing bad will happen. In a young body, all processes are smoothly running and do not require additional intervention or stimulation. Skin cells and their receptors will “ignore” the components of the anti-aging cream, because The body itself produces all the necessary substances. Therefore, if you take your mother’s cream several times, it’s not scary. It will simply moisturize and nourish, but will not make you look older.
II Anti-age cosmetics
To choose anti-aging cosmetics, you need to understand how and why they work. Let's get acquainted with its action using the example of Eisenberg Paris products: we share how and when you can cope with those signs of age that bother you.
Effect of anti-aging cosmetics: which is required and which is more important
It’s good if anti-aging cosmetics have several characteristics at once: protects against harmful environmental influences, prevents moisture loss and elastin destruction, helps collagen synthesis, and evens out skin tone. But the two most important principles in caring for both young and aged skin are hydration and protection from UV rays. They should be followed at any age.
The choice of products taking into account the individual needs of the skin is also important. There is no point in using, for example, creams to even out your tone when everything is fine with you. And don’t forget about salon care: professional procedures help a lot.
In general, the best help for aging skin is to prevent active aging while still young. So start taking care of yourself as early as possible.
What components should be included in anti-aging cosmetics?
- Antioxidants. The most famous are vitamins E, C, A (retinol), alpha-lipoic acid, caffeine. They fight the negative influence of the environment, neutralize the effects of free radicals, and improve redox processes in skin cells.
- Hylauronic acid. Moisturizes the skin. You can read about how to properly combine products with acids and antioxidants here.
- Coenzymes. Accelerate collagen synthesis and slow down the process of elastin destruction.
- Niacinamide (vitamin). Reduces pigmentation and stimulates collagen production. You can learn more about it in our other article.
- Enzymes. Accelerate skin renewal processes.
- SPF protection factors. Reduces the negative effects of ultraviolet rays.
- Peptides (cytokines). Helps smooth out wrinkles: stimulate collagen production, participate in the process of cellular renewal and in the synthesis of extracellular matrix proteins.
- Ceramides (ceramides, or fats). Restore the protective functions and water-fat balance of the skin.
