How I removed wen (cysts) under the eyes with a laser surgeon. And the doctor's comment

How to remove a wen

All methods of removing wen can be divided into two groups:

  • Folk;
  • Standard.

First, let's look at the basic folk methods. There is little choice here:

  • Applying the Golden Mustache directly to the lipoma. The duration of such a compress should be 12 hours.
  • Rub garlic in the most crushed form directly into the wen until the lipoma completely disappears.

Standard methods include conservative and surgical methods and their possible combinations. Especially if the wen has already reached a large size, it makes sense to immediately go to the doctor rather than tempt fate.

The doctor will conduct the necessary examination of the material to rule out oncology.

What recommendations should a patient follow after laser lipoma removal?

The rehabilitation period is quick, easy, and without any complications. For 4–5 days after the procedure, you should adhere to the following recommendations:

  • refrain from excessive physical activity;
  • do not take hot baths;
  • do not use cosmetics in the place where the lipoma was;
  • do not visit swimming pools, saunas and baths;
  • avoid mechanical irritation of the postoperative area.

If you detect any pathological symptoms (severe swelling, redness, pain or purulent discharge from the wound), you should consult a doctor.

Wen removal options

After this there are two options:

Invasive treatment. If the wen is small, a special drug is injected directly into it, which breaks down the tissue of the wen from the inside.

Surgical treatment. If the size is large enough, then surgery is necessary. Possible operations:

  • Standard using a scalpel under local anesthesia;
  • Laser removal of wen.

The purpose of any operation to remove a lipoma is to remove the lipoma capsule. If this is not done, a relapse is guaranteed. After surgery using a scalpel, a small scar will remain. Laser removal helps avoid this unpleasant consequence.

If the wen has progressed and reached a huge size, a serious operation under general anesthesia in a hospital cannot be ruled out. In this case, complete healing occurs after two weeks, leaving a postoperative scar. This is another reason to think about it and not delay contacting a specialist in the early stages.

Laser removal helps to avoid significant tissue trauma and the formation of a postoperative scar. Using a laser, a specialist will quite simply and quickly remove both the tumor itself and its capsule. In this case there will be no scar.

This operation is performed on an outpatient basis, under local anesthesia at the request of the patient (you can do without it). The operation itself lasts no more than half an hour. After it you can go to work or home.

Preparing for surgery

Before the operation, the patient will need to undergo a number of preparatory procedures.

The doctor prescribes the following examinations:

  • General and clinical blood tests.
  • Submission of urine for general analysis.
  • Cardiac examination.
  • Donating blood for syphilis, HIV, hepatitis.

Ultrasound of the tumor, CT or MRI is performed earlier, at the stage of diagnosis. If the lipoma has many blood vessels, then angiography may be performed.

In some cases, for example, with a breast lipoma, the patient is prescribed a biopsy before surgery. During the procedure, a puncture is made and the contents of the tumor are taken for histological and cytological analysis. This allows you to make sure that the neoplasm is indeed benign. In other cases, a biopsy sample is obtained during surgery. Based on the results of the study, the need for chemotherapy or radiation therapy is decided. If the patient had a true lipoma, then further treatment (after removal of the tumor) is not carried out.

In the case when the patient suffers from an acute or chronic infection, it is necessary to get rid of the inflammation and only then go for surgery.

If the patient’s history shows allergic reactions to medications, then tests are performed for the injected anesthetic.

When the lipoma is located on the scalp, the surgical field must be shaved. At least 3-4 hours before the upcoming intervention, the patient should refuse to eat food.

Doctors strongly recommend not smoking before surgery. The presence of nicotine in the blood increases the risk of complications. You should not drink alcohol for several days before surgery.

Complications

The wen itself, as we have already said, is not dangerous. But when it reaches large sizes, it can compress surrounding tissues and organs, disrupting their functionality.

By compressing blood vessels and nerves, the wen will cause circulatory problems in the compressed organs, causing swelling and necrosis. An overgrown wen on the neck is dangerous due to compression of the respiratory organs.

Lipomas can reach enormous sizes: the literature describes cases of removal of lipomas weighing more than ten kilograms.

Another modern, well-proven method of removing wen is removal using a radio wave knife.

Indications for radio wave removal of fatty deposits on the face: tumor size is no more than six centimeters.

The radioknife not only cuts, but also immediately coagulates, preventing the formation of bleeding. This method is also completely bloodless. The operation is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The tumor is removed along with the capsule. After removing the wen, practically no traces remain.

Contraindications to this method are:

  • Presence of metal prostheses;
  • Presence of acute infections;
  • Presence of diabetes mellitus of all types.

It's time to act

Even the most harmless tumors on a person’s face or body cause distress due to aesthetic and sometimes physical discomfort.

Removing fatty tumors with a laser is one of the safest and most effective ways to say goodbye to a problematic tumor, which minimizes the risk of reappearance, as well as the likelihood of the formation of edema, inflammatory processes or infiltrates.

In what cases should this procedure be performed? Is it safe and is it always necessary to remove lipomas with a laser? We'll talk about this and much more in this article.

To delete or not to delete?

The lipoma itself is not dangerous. But due to the complications described, the tendency to grow, unpleasant sensations, and psychological discomfort, it is better to get rid of them. And this should be done by specialists, especially if the tumor is of significant size.

You need to understand that the very presence of a wen can lead to permanent injury. And this, in turn, is always fraught with negative consequences in the form of malignant neoplasms around the wen. The doctor, in turn, will always, after the necessary research, select the correct method that is suitable for a particular case.

Contraindications

Laser lipoma removal is not possible if the following contraindications are present:

  • Herpetic rashes or other inflammatory processes in the area of the surgical field.
  • Carrying a child, breastfeeding.
  • Menstrual bleeding.
  • Diabetes.
  • Disturbances in the functioning of the immune system.
  • The doctor has doubts that the tumor is benign.
  • HIV infection.
  • The location of the lipoma in close proximity to vital vessels.
  • Acute infectious diseases. First, you will need to get rid of the disease.
  • Hypertensive crisis.
  • Diseases of the cardiovascular system associated with cardiac dysfunction.
